But not at great levels. Whenever he's played at levels as high as the Dutch League he hasn't scored. Danish League is no great shakes. His overall record is pretty good tbh

Again though I have to point you to the fact alot of european level clubs were interested in him , 2 bids over 7 million rejected that we know of and in the thoughts of atkeast 2 premier league clubs in Palace and brentford ..You’ve said I went looking for things matching my opinion. How when I didn’t have an opinion until I went looking
And yes I think they are wrong to offer to pay that for a player with his record TBH. I don’t rate Turkey as a decent level and IIRC Chris Birchall played at a WC, doesn’t mean I’d spend £9m on him!
It’s a hell of a jump in our transfer strategy and quite surprising to me we’ve done it. For the money I’d rather three young players.
Nobody was queuing up to sign Gyokeres after his first full season in the Championship either. But not at great levels. Whenever he's played at levels as high as the Dutch League he hasn't scored. Danish League is no great shakes.

Seeing as we're discussing Chris Birchill...if we'd spent that on Cobi Jones we'd have been insane and he was a USA international legend.Again though I have to point you to the fact alot of european level clubs were interested in him , 2 bids over 7 million rejected that we know of and in the thoughts of atkeast 2 premier league clubs in Palace and brentford ..
You have to ask of Chris Burchill could ever
We also have to add in the ability of our coaching staff to improve players ..like hamer , vik , Sheaf , fadz etcBut not at great levels. Whenever he's played at levels as high as the Dutch League he hasn't scored. Danish League is no great shakes.
With younger players, with the exception of Fadz who is being fed a special mulch. We also have to add in the ability of our coaching staff to improve players ..like hamer , vik , Sheaf , fadz etc
So we must have a pretty good reason to be doing it.
We play in the Championship …….But not at great levels. Whenever he's played at levels as high as the Dutch League he hasn't scored. Danish League is no great shakes.
Well even Ben Wilson was transformed from 'Coco the Clown' into a golden glove winner. With younger players, with the exception of Fadz who is being fed a special mulch.
Let's just trust the process , it's done us well over the last few years. I doubt they would spend this kind of money if the data didn't back it upWith younger players, with the exception of Fadz who is being fed a special mulch.
Well put simply, we'll only be spending a fee like it again if we're either promoted or sell one of this year's intake for another bumper fee.Hope so. We’re in uncharted territory here.
No, of course not. I'm just a little frightened.OK, fact is we do have to accept there is no guarantees this works out
We have to hope we get the best from the lad too
Think this is why it's so scaryHope so. We’re in uncharted territory here.
I mean if you really rate the Danish League and the bottom 14 of the Turkish League, that's fine, he's guaranteed goals. We play in the Championship …….
Ah, Barcelona at their tiki-taka prime. Is it because he's not small and technically brilliant ? I see now , this is your dream team View attachment 31085
..to reserve GK again because we've signed Beckenbauer to replace him.Well even Ben Wilson was transformed from 'Coco the Clown' into a golden glove winner.
Just adding reasoning to your rhetoricI mean if you really rate the Danish League and the bottom 14 of the Turkish League, that's fine, he's guaranteed goals.
In mine he's putting Wout Faes on his arse, breaking past Callum Doyle with only the keeper to beat, then the linesman's flag goes up. Rinse and repeatIn my head he's taken 2 players away whilst palmer puts it on a plate for simms
If we go off his last 3 seasons , as a player improving and developing he's scored 40 in his last 90 league gamesI mean if you really rate the Danish League and the bottom 14 of the Turkish League, that's fine, he's guaranteed goals.
More because he's injured, I imagine he'd be starting otherwise...to reserve GK again because we've signed Beckenbauer to replace him.

I hope so, but it's not what others think though.More because he's injured, I imagine he'd be starting otherwise.
At lower levels than he'd played before. Denmark and Turkey is not great standard and some teams would be "fill your boots time". He went 7 games without a goal towards the end of this season, maybe he struggles against the better Turkish sides? If we go off his last 3 seasons , as a player improving and developing he's scored 40 in his last 90 league games
I'm guessing he fits the criteria for many teams , the data must be good because he's been the subject of bids from big European clubs .. and interest at premier league level ..But at what level to justify a fucking massive fee? For £9m I’d want someone who hadn’t flopped at similar levels before. He’s a gamble and the price should reflect that.
The point remains though that this random lower league journeyman was turned into a genuinely solid Championship keeper. In general I think we've got many more transfers right than we have wrong.I hope so, but it's not what others think though.

I still have to point out that a top Scottish side and a european level la liga side both had bids turned down too .. there simply has to be something thereAt lower levels than he'd played before. fair enough but if he smashes 20 goal this season, you'll never live it down. No, of course not. I'm just a little frightened.
Besides, there always has to be some wanker to get brought up as "huh, he never rated Haji" so I will go for that role (with a side-dish of "Simon Moore's crap" @shmmeee !)
Oh yeah, me too, and I love Wilson. The point remains though that this random lower league journeyman was turned into a genuinely solid Championship keeper. In general I think we've got many more transfers right than we have wrong.
