We have seen plenty of clubs splash the cash with little reward and Robins is in uncharted territory. 8 new players, statistically you would think at least two will be duds. Four have come from other leagues, so the risk/reward is greater with those players. Last year's team very settled (7 regulars with over 2 years). Theoretically we could start with the back 6 all new. So the answer is f**k knows where we will finish., but almost certainly below the expectations of most fans on here. While the team settles, I think we will flirt with the relegation zone and some people will be booking a taxi for a friend.

As it stands - 4th-6th.

Get this American geezer, Gus on a new deal and a couple of decent EPL loads, then I'd genuinely fancy us for the autos.

To be fair, that would also depend on a decent injury/disciplinary record this season.

Thinking 7th-12th at the moment, thats mainly down to apprehension on the partnership Wright and Simms can build. If we keep Gus, and they can both get 15 goals each which I think is in their ability, then we are well on our way.

I've assumed Hamer is going and gone 7-12th, which i would absolutely take. Last season we did brilliantly against all odds but i feel it was 2 years too early. There's been lots of changes this window, but we've invested in decent young players on long term contracts and less reliant on loans. Next season is the season we really go for it i feel.

Having said that, we also gave everyone a 10 game head start last season, assuming we dont do that again, autos it is..........

Whether we have Hamer or not, same points as last season but lower position. Next season we'll push on.

Hoping for a top two.

Play-offs were a bonus last season. Gutted, but philosophical about the result. If we end Up in play-offs, hoping to avoid pens as no team deserves to go out like that.

I’ll reserve my prediction for mid-season, and get it utterly wrong again. 👍🏻

Seriously though, if all goes well, and the team gel, easily top 6 again. Though, the recruitment intent is clearly a push for automation promotion. Which can be achieved, as somehow, we finished 5th with an exhausted, threadbare squad.

Too many variables to consider at the moment, but as the season progresses, all will become clear.

Anyone who has us below 6th has no faith in robins vievash Doug king or how we've been spending the vik money , and should go back to there knitting and premium bonds.
Not a lack of faith just an expectation that it will take time for this big intake of new players to get used to each other and how Robins wants them to play. With that in mind I think we'll start inconsistently then steadily improve.

An unknown at this point is when O'Hare comes back and what kind of form he hits when he does. If we were entering the season with him fully fit I'd probably raise my prediction a bit.

10th, whether Gus stays or not. Too much change within the team imo and I think that'll take a few months for us to work out.

Going to take a while to gel with so many new players. Can Fadz and Wilson have great seasons again? Are our new defenders as good as the ones we have lost? If we lose Gus, it will be more difficult. Will O'Hare come back firing? Can the new strikers do the business? I'm going for playoffs again but we need a bit of luck.

Because i want to be awkward and not really comply with the options on the poll i'm saying anywhere from 5th-10th wouldn't surprise me. At the lower end of the scale is the scenario where we lose Hamer late in the window and it takes the multitude of signings we have made a while to gel. At the higher end of the scale is an assumption that Hamer stays and the new signings work well together relatively early on in the season. Even if we have a rough start whilst things settle it surely can't be worse than last season so i think there's plenty of scope for it to be a good campaign. Simms and/or Wright, the new centre-halves and Van Ewijk look to be the key signings for me, if they are generally good we will challenge for the top 6 I reckon.

Bottom Half for me this season as things stand but I hope I'm wrong - a lot of new players to settle in and gel and a tough start to the season fixtures wise.

I mean, we didn’t win till October last season, did we?! We surely start better than that this year and build like we did last year. My hope, anyway.

🏆 Champions 🏆

Slow start but players will bed in. We have bought quality and have far better strength in depth this year.

I think Hamer will stay with the intention of seeing out his contract. He will resign later in the year when it becomes apparent we are gonna take the title at a canter. Also his wife and kid will have moved back.

Hamer, Sakamoto, Simms, Wright, Da Silva and Ewick will make our counter attacking style deadly. You heard it here first.

I am glass half full kinda guy.😎

Where will We finish , do these threads every year , let's go

I'm voting as if Hamer is staying
Yup you do this every year.

Most numptys change their opinions like the weather during the season. Think alot will do well to keep the faith and stick to your opinions and faith. They all look stupid usually by end of season in Robin's era.

I think potentially 4th. And if we are 20th end of October I will still have faith of play offs. Season really starts in January!

I think top 6. I’ve been very positive and voted 2nd! I’m never usually that positive, but I’m feeling it this year.

The season we won League 1 we had a load of new signings, I'm not sure that "time to gel" is that much of an issue when you've bought players to fit a desired way of playing

I remember Bobby Gould's first season (well before your time I think) when we had virtually a whole new team. We actually started really well and were considered title contenders after beating Liverpool 4-0 in December. Unfortunately it all feel apart badly after Christmas.

Difficult to judge. So many new players and a few that have never played in England let alone the championship before.

Compared to last season

Keeper - about the same
RWB - improved
CB - difficult to assess but probably not as good
LWB - about the same but with extra option
CMs - the same but losing Hamer would be huge
ACM - same
Strikers - difficult to say but undoubtedly a downgrade on Gyokeres but improvement in squad quality

It all depends on whether the team gels and becomes a sum of its parts. We have to learn to play a different way without Gyokeres, which may take time.

Looked good in pre season against league one and two teams.
