Yes, we miss a player who had barely as much technical ability as ROD, little aerial power despite being one of the tallest players on the pitch, and whose presence on the pitch encouraged us to play the hoof each time we got the ball. Yes he was a hard worker, but that is the bare minimum expected from even amateur players...

We all know Platt's limitations. But the fact is we are hoofing it anyway, and when we do, it comes straight back. At least with Platt it stuck for a while as he held it up. And although rarely a goal threat, he usually changed the game for the better when he came on as sub-he invariably had a positive impact. Ball has only done that once so far.

Nobody is saying we would rather have him than McGoldrick! More that we don't have a forward who can play with his back to goal or offer a physical presence. We do use McGoldrick for that but it's not his strength-mainly we do it 'cos he's the only player in the oppositions half...

I always liked Platt because he tried, but at present he would not fit into our system as Robbins seems to play one up front, could not believe he moved our best forward over to the wing and left Donky Ball up front on his own. Lets hope and pray he starts to get things right soon.

I'm pretty sure none of our players are fat. Some people were saying David Bell had a set of norks on him earlier this season, when he is clearly just built.
People call McSheffrey fat when he is actually a bit of a machine.

I didn't know we had 2 Platt's last season - I just remember Clive the one who very rarely scored, created assists and for a big man was hopeless at holding the ball up.

We can't carry a striker that doesn't score enough goals.

Platt would fit in easily in this squad, as the current crop aren't any good on that score either!

One of countless games where he failed even in his intended role. He was signed only ever to be back up and was never supposed to be starting week in/week out, and the majority of his matches last season were testament to that.

I do apologise there was the OP who stated that he was more of a loss than Keogh and Cranie. Fair enough.

Well he's a target man so that's not really so significant is it? I like that you've ignored his goal against Wolves though.

He's also a striker by trade and his failure to consistently score goals at any stage in his career doesn't reflect well on him does it? No manager in League One expressed interest-guess they're all missing his unstoppable aerial presence too.

I agree, it was just about the only thing he could do though. He would be an asset to us this season.
