No information on this at all, personal opinion/hunch

he’ll be off to Leeds this week, they had a 17 year old playing in the middle yesterday

Robins saying before the game that we’re building the team around Hamer made me feel ever so slightly assured he would be staying for the season. But, he was so good today that any club considering an offer will surely submit those offers first thing tomorrow morning.

I recall he actually said something along the lines of; he’s still in the building at the moment which is a blessing, we hope he stays as we want to build the team around him. It didn’t leave me in the least bit assured….. rather it sounded a public cry for him to consider staying and sign on.

That’s how I heard it. Also a ‘we still want him here so if you want to buy him you’ll have to pay top dollar’ message. If he’d sulked and/or we stuck him on bench we’d only get low ball offers. That message plus his performance should at least keep price higher. As a few have said, I’d accept a prem move and wish him the best but a move to another championship club wouldn’t sit well

Ps I actually dreamt last night that he went to Leeds…hoping that’s not a sign !

Edit - WTF - dreaming of footballers at my age, not a good sign either way

Something also about "long may that continue" (about him being in the building).

I personally took nothing from that.

Like other posters have said , Hamer could be the difference between top 6 and potential promotion or mid table . He was everywhere on that pitch yesterday and as soon as he went off for lesta that was like having an extra player on the park .
just like the play offs final . We need to find common ground to keep him he’s so influential to this team .

As many have said, having Hamer in the team is like having 2-3 extra players as he covers so much ground both in defence and attack. Scores goals and assists for goals. Blocks shots, wins possession and lifts the levels of everyone on the team. That’s the mark of a true leader. He should made team captain if Robins wants to show Gus how much he means to the team. It’s a night and day difference with and without him in the team. We’ve seen it in the playoff final, we saw it yesterday and we even saw it against Exeter in preseason where we scored after Gus came on. Just a game changer I tell you. Also if we sell now, we don’t have enough time to replace him. If not you would’ve found someone else by now. C’mon Doug pay him what he wants, bin off Kelly, Tavares, and other fringe players to save wages and make things work if you have to.

So our already small squad you want to get rid of more just to pay hamer more money?

Great plan - how do you “bin off” players out of interest?

It will be hard to see him go but if we invest well in a couple of up and coming CM we may be in a better position for it down the line.

As players like Dewsbury Hall go to the prem teams will throw money at us for Hamer and we’ll have to take it.

It’s only a matter of time someone makes an offer we can’t turn down so you’d hope we have targets lined up that we can move quickly on.

What’s clear is he’s messed us around as much off the pitch as he has excelled for us on it. In fact dare I say all the latter is about is putting himself in the shop window.

Get Leicester to pay £20m

I would presume by pledging to run his contract down for nothing or by holding out for a move without putting in a transfer request.

If that’s his decision and from the sounds of it it’s because of recent events in his life, and he’s turning up to training and happy to do his best seeing out his contract what’s the issue?

If he knows no club where he wants to go would pay what City would want why hand in a transfer request? What’s even the point of requests if not to be a nob and get clubs bidding on you?

You are buying into a narrative which has no supporting evidence whatsoever

As are you, welcome to Sky Blues Talk

Well no as there’s zero evidence at all he wants to go back - in fact all we have is robins remarks a couple of weeks ago that they have turned down offers and “other clubs covet him and put things in his head”

We have no idea that this is the reason he won’t sign. Even if it is, you could still sign a 1 year extension with an agreement that he can return to NL for something rather than nothing.

Seems to me more likely he’s had his head turned by clubs in this country and is holding out for something. If Leicester or Leeds really do come in for him and he goes late in August, he’ll have properly screwed us over. Hopefully not.

Which could be clubs telling him to run his contract down so he can move where he wants.

You’re making as many leaps as anyone. What we do know is his missus left and went back at the end of last season. That he looks happy and has apparently been telling everyone he wants to stay. And he hasn’t been running around like Vik telling everyone the club is over pricing him.

Gyo was completely open right after Dabo put his penalty into orbit and we got a very good price early in the window. What Hamer’s doing is the precise opposite.

Robins comment was clearly saying he wants more money not wanting to leave for personal reasons

At least Gyokeres went about things in an honest way not pretending to be Mr Nice Guy to get people on side

This whole thread is like the bright thread where anyone who commented on the blindingly obvious conclusion was told to wait and see what’s happened before making conclusions

Politely differ. He's got a contract and he's keeping up his end of it.

He's not a piece of meat, and he's got every right to decide what he does next. He's entitled to look after the best interests of himself and his family.

If he ends up seeing his contract out and we lose on the transfer fee, so be it. We get a terrific player for another season.

We can't, and shouldn't, be trying to make him go somewhere he doesn't want to go - that would be unfair to a player who's given us so much, imho.

I also politely disagree. We won’t have been touting him around, but equally we have a club to run and one like ours cannot afford to lose players like him for nothing or equally just wait for him to leave near the end of the transfer window with no time to replace him.

The performances we’re seeing are that of someone advertising himself to his suitors.

So your wild speculation is right rather than someone else's? None of us know.

Im interpreting a comment from the guy who manages him - not comments from some bloke on twitter - so Robins is indulging in wild speculation?
