I do agree with this. My immediate concern is the mood at the club. On the back of 2 defeats when you see the difference he makes, then he goes and IF we get turned over tomorrow, the level of bed wetting will be up a notch!

How much bed wetting can our fan base produce?

174 pages and still going. This has to be the craziest Sky Blue drama thread in my history here. More emotions on display than a bingewatch of Neighbours, Eastenders and Hollyoaks. I just cannot believe the negativity on this board today. It's not the end of the world !!! Yes, we're losing a key player but we've known that for 4 weeks or more. Since Vik started talking in the press, it was a matter of time before Gus wanted to move as well.

We've lost good and key players before. It's the nature of our club. We'll get past this as we always do.

Last season, we were bottom for the first couple of months. We ended up in the playoff final, and one kick away from the Prem.

Give the current team time to gel, let Dean Austin and the recruitment team do their jobs and we may find a couple of midfielders of Hamers raw quality for a couple of million as we did before. If it's that upsetting to you, switch off your computer, go for a walk in the sunshine and enjoy real life. Coventry City will still be here when you get back.

Also Robins knew this was happening and targets will be lined up. He said we will reassess at this point in the window. Why? Because if Gus money comes in the targets change again.

It’s good business. He cost us what, 1.2M, has a year left so could go for free next year and we end up probably with £12-15M

The bid for Kitching maybe shows we now there was more money coming in

At the start of last season, nobody predicted how great both would be, we were all surprised, it’s fantastic money for them that gives us a platform like Brentford and we have to trust robins to spend well.

mover the years we lost far better players and survived and indeed, improved at times.

FFS, according to most on here, Hamer is either the second coming of God, or a slightly better version of Connor Thomas. He's an excellent championship player, which we got 3 great years out of (should be more, but fucking Dabo). I'm looking forward to seeing how he performs in the prem, I think he's seeing this move as a stepping stone as otherwise it doesn't really make sense. He won't be near the Dutch national team as he simply isn't good enough. The national squad is littered with younger players, playing at a much higher level. IMO He'll become a solid prem player, earn a fortune, have a few multi million pound transfers. Good luck to him. It was a pleasure to watch him play, and probably the best player we've had for 25 years. Get the money invested in his replacement and I'm fairly happy to keep the rest for January.
Agree mostly. Spending the money earlier always preferable however, without having to scramble around either.

When you look at it losing to your biggest rivals after being 1-0 with 15 minutes to go, then losing to a League Two side after being 1-0 up with 4 minutes to go and then selling your best player isn’t really the best week, is it?

Looking forward to tomorrows loss to Middlesbrough to really compound it.
How many seasons have we had shit like this happen and then bounce back to defy the odds…….believe!

The level he’s at is at least an outstanding Championship player. His stats are ridiculous. As I say CMs getting double figures goals and assists is pretty much unheard of outside of a few big names across the top divisions. He’s widely seen as the best player at this level.
No one even disputes that.

These are not mutually exclusive statements. You’ve got a player like Gus you pay him £25k/wk.
Fair play to Gus. Could have taken easy option play out his 9 months left here and left for free. Practically would have pocketed 50k per week and a whole new market would have opened up for him on a free.

So it's not money, he wants to go. If MR says that then fek him, get what we can and move forward.

He has taken the easy option, guaranteed PL football in a side that has zero expectations so anything he does well is a bonus.
