The Replacement (4 Viewers)

We don't need to replace Hamer like for like. Hamer replaced Walsh who was a more possession based player.

The system will adapt as the players change. There is no way we can play the counter-attacking style as successfully as we did last year without Gyok & Hamer.

Walsh was excellent last season against us and ran the show. Will never happen but I'd be more than happy to see him back.

Is there anyone in the loan market that could be a potential replacement?

Obviously a permanent signing would be good but a young up and coming prospect from a top Prem team could get us through this season.

We have 3 weeks yet to find a replacement. We signed 9 in almost that time in JUly

We don't have access to anywhere near enough data to highlight a possible replacement for him - but I think the three biggest areas that we need to cover are:

Work rate
Direct passing
Interceptions

We need to find a player who covers the ground that he did, isn't afraid to risk through balls and has the ability to spot players, and someone who reads the game in defence well enough to break up attacks.

I'm not as worried about replacing the goals, they're a bonus, I want us to replace the dynamism and ambition that he provided.

Robins will have the replacements in mind. Now it's down to negotiations

I don't know how some don't understand how a player can 'get his head turned'

'Hello Gus. We would like to double your wage. You will play against some of the best players in the world. Play well then in 12 months get a big move to a big club'

'Nah. I'd prefer to stay in the Championship with a team that is fookin useless without me'

Who’s to say there will be a replacement, Doug may want to pocket the cash this time?

What would be the point in that?

It would just mean he’s wasted the Gyokeres money

Well, whoever we sign needs to be good and hit the ground running, it could turn toxic if we don't replace Gus and get off to a poor start.

This isn’t a sudden knee jerk sale, I suspect Hamers involvement in the last two games were to prove basic fitness and Sheffield were in the wings waiting for a while.
Robins will know his target or targets he’s already intimidated another forward to come in.
Lots of suggestions on here some good ones too but as usual MR keeps his cards close to his chest and there’s the loan market too.
Could be an interesting three weeks until the transfer window shuts.

Did Robins think we would keep him for the year

Not sure, as i say the reason he peddled through pre season was the family in Holland line to Robins. Hence Robins understanding

Only recently has it become obvious its money related. Soon as Gus said ge wants out Robins says off you fuck

If he’s prepared to sell Hamer at such a crucial time of the season and blindside the manager to boot, anything’s possible.
How is he blindsiding the manager? If you think that MR was taken aback about Gus leaving, you must be living in an alternative universe, There have probably been in excess of 1,000 posts about it on here. He will have plans a) b) c) and beyond in terms of replacements.
