Wright looks great, if he can hold up play like vik did he's a real option

Can’t be arsed with ratings. But when it actually all clicks we will be laughing.

Wright needs to start. Godden class.
Thought Eccles stepped up as well.
Yeah we look one of best teams with no hamer ,a rwb that not got going yet and slightly below par simms

We can be special this season!

I think we can get away with 1 x CM.

- Eccles is good enough to start.
- Sheaf starts every game if he's fit.
- Kelly can get minutes if needed
- Allen is the same as Kelly when fit

Those 4 plus 1 x new CM for 2 spots.

Palmer, Sakamoto, O'Hare for the other.

Allen and Kelly aren’t good enough in that position for where we want to everyone TBH. We also don’t know if Allen will even be back like he was. We needed cover for Gus when Gus was here, we need replacement and cover. Eccles will still get plenty of game time and it’s good competition. Kelly can just hang around being the elder statesman then.

McFadzean and Sheaf brilliant today.

Feel for Simms, willing to have a go but doesn't seem to yet be on the same wavelength as the rest of the team

Looks like he needs a goal and a bit of love. Got to get a song going for him. Must be shit hearing another strikers name being chanted even when he’s not on the pitch, and that’s before he gets a home debut goal. He’s also got the cursed running style which means he will get moaned at.

Yeah he definitely looks like the price tag and perceived expectation are weighing heavy on him

Wilson 6 - good talking, he's definitely good at talking.

MVE 6 - looks very rusty. I guess it's going to take time.

Thomas 7 - great on the ball, a few iffy passes but he tries to play forwards so understandable.

Fadz 7 - Felt he was at fault for the second half mix up with Lati, but largely good.

Lati 7 - Polite young man off the pitch, animal on it. Loved seeing him tell the linesman he'd missed a push. Does a bit of gamesmanship, wasn't expecting that from him.

DaSilva 7 - Very tidy on the ball.

Sheaf 8 - Some great tackles today and good seeing him get forward. He's good at it.

Eccles 7 - Was largely very good and worked well with Sheaf, despite the fact I don't think that's an ideal CM pairing. Showed Hayden Hackney up imo.

Palmer 6 - Drifted out of the game before he was subbed. His quality is there for all to see, just not getting things right often enough at the moment, but I think a few more games and we'll see more from him. Think he actually did better at Leicester.

Simms 6 - Gets shots off, none of them troubling. Needs some confidence.

Godden 8 - Involved in the build up, involved in the finishing. The best I've seen him since League 1.

Wright 7 - Looks a handful, can run with the ball at pace and be direct. A more impressive debut than Gyokeres debut for us.

Sakamoto 7 - Exciting to watch, has good close control and a decent cross. He was good at RWB.

Kai Andrews 10 - Don't know anything about him. Brilliant.

Kelly 6 - Did a big tackle.

Bidwell 7 - Did his job. Made the right decision in a tricky situation where he was tempted to play it back to Wilson but spotted the two Boro forwards so turned and hacked it up the line. Good call.

Yep, definitely. Hopefully fans can be patient with him, sounds like Robins will be.
Otherwise could be another Tyler Walker situation where he has that lazy tag, loses all confidence and then it's a vicious cycle to win the support back

100% this ! Needs a song and quick !!! Was thinking and saying that to others around me, Wright comes on and everyone’s belting out his song….same with sakamoto (still don’t know it though). Come on surely we can think of one for Simms

I still think he’ll be a proper handful once he gets going

Wilson - 6 - not much to do, kicking very poor.

Thomas - 6 - could tell he wasn’t quite fit. Did what he needed to most of the time.
Fadz - 7 - kept things calm, not as good on the ball today but solid defensively.
Latibeaudiere - 7 - very composed on the ball, one blip. Could tell on very rare occasions that he was playing on the wrong side.

MvE - 5 - didn’t want to go at his man (although our formation tends to have wing backs cutting inside). Still learning. Enough signs that he’ll improve given time.
Sheaf - 9 - sublime both in and out of possession.
Eccles - 7 - also very good, looked to tire late in the game.
Dasilva - 7 - very good first half and found lots of space. Faded second half but seemed the Boro wide player pushed up on him more.

Palmer - 6 - again, good in first half. Faded badly from about 55 and should have been hooked sooner.

Simms - 6 - clearly still learning our game. Again, seen enough to make me think he’ll come good.
Godden - 8 - one goal and a great ball for the 3rd. Busy.

Subs
Wright - 8 - involved from the get go, great finish for his goal.
Kelly - 6 - settled things down and gave us a tad more solidity than when Palmer was on.
Sakamoto - 7 - took the piss out of their left back. He’ll be fun to watch.
Bidwell - 6 - did what was needed, quietened their attacks down.
Andrews - N/A - came on, that’s about it.

Sheaf was just superb. Won the ball countless times and his driving runs were superb.

Wright is going to be a fantastic player for us, he looks another level physically, and the early goal will settle him.

You know what, I'm sold. If we're being ruthless, you want an upgrade on Allen. Kelly will be here for the season and can do a job.

Still think we'd be fine with 1 x CM that's first XI quality but if we want to push on, grab a second that's a bit raw to develop.

I'm assuming Howley will be loaned out and doesn't suddenly show in a cameo or two that he's good enough for serious minutes.

Wilson :: 7
A few poor longer balls but he handled playing out from the back pretty well. His spot to lose.

Thomas :: 7
Not much came down that side. A few gaffes when he went fwd. Don't think we'll miss McNally.

Fadz :: 7
Deserves to keep his spot. If he keeps this level for the season, that helps so much with the rebuild.

Latibeaudiere :: 8
Looks an absolutely gem. Think he'll be here for a long time. Good footballer, looks a great defender.

MvE :: 6
Hope he shows more going fwd. He was steady enough today. Da Silva contributed more overall.

Da Silva :: 7
Pushing an 8. Bargain of a signing. LWB is sorted with him and Bidwell. Looks good in tight spaces.

Sheaf :: 8
Pushing a 9 in 2nd half. When we were fading, put in some brilliant tackles. Huge for us this season.

Eccles :: 8
Pushing a 9 first half. Looks like he's bulked up. Seemed to be everywhere. Good going fwd.

Palmer :: 7
Needs to start adding assists and goals but people calling him a Show Pony need to f*ck off.

Simms :: 6
Decent movement. Was decisive (shoot, pass, hold up). Shots were decent. He'll get one and be on it.

Godden :: 8
Best I've seen him look all round. If he was 25-28 he'd be worth a few £m. Keeps his spot.

Wright :: 7
Took his chance. Good enough for where we are. If he settles quick, can drag us up a level.

Sakamoto :: 7
Made a difference. Seemed solid positionally. Glad we've signed him. Will be fun to watch.

Robins :: 8
Made changes when we needed them. Made the right changes. Picked the right first XI. Job done.

Agree with those. Like you I am really impressed with Latibeaudiere. Always wants to play good football but also tough in the tackle. I think he will have a good career, hopefully with us.

Sheaf, Eccles and Godden had great games. Very impressed with Dasilva too and like the explosiveness of Wight.

His lack of pace (highlighted by a few Swansea fans after we signed him) was exposed a couple of times today. Looked tired second half and played us into trouble a few times - was involved in the clusterfuck which led to them missing an open goal too.
Did ok, but I'd say he was one of our more "average" performers today -
note - not saying he had a bad game - there were a few "worries" there for me today.

Thought we were pretty slow at times in our build up. That said, 3 goals and 3 points so what do I know!

Interesting comments on Latibeudiere and Da Silva. I felt we were vulnerable down that side first and second half. I agree they have good qualities but Lati was beaten a few times and made a slightly rash challenge whilst on a yellow. Da Silva got caught on the ball a couple of times and played one or two sloppy passes inside. I thought Bidwell sured the left up when he came on. Going forward I hope Binks secures the LCB position and Lati competes for RCB. Thomas looks like he could play in the centre of the 3 too.

Decent performance - back 5 need some time to gel. Some sloppy almost "no look" passes across the back weren't pretty - on the left side overplaying/dallying were the cause of Boro's best 2 chances - both of which should have been scored.
Still can be that gap with mids not getting up quickly enough when we fast break which we could be seeing a lot of with Wright.
MVE can be decent when he settles in. There's plenty of bits in Simms play that are encouraging. Saka a nice cameo going forward in particular.

I'd deduct both them a point for that horrendous fuck up that resulted in that chance that looked proper Rostenthalish in real time.

Thought we played well vs a very off colour boro

Ellis is under big pressure for his place he has so much to learn

van ewiyk looks a bit out of his depth atm and has a lot to learn but if he clicks he’s a goal threat

palmer I thought did well but I worry about his workrate

I was impressed with style of play and possession based game, a lot of positives

sheaf Eccles and lads at the back looked good most of the game

de silva is basic but decent not sure there is much between him an Bidwell

overall an important win a loss wudda been hard to take after Gus hangover

new playmaker needed

I was really impressed with Palmer today and would give him and Eccles 8's. He had a nightmare opening 10 mins where nothing came off for him but he grew into the game and was a constant threat going forward. His flick through ball in the second half was worth the admission alone.

Biggest problem on the left was no one showing down the line for da silva
Wright came on and showed for that ball completely different game
Sakamoto looked excellent

He’s a very entertaining player to watch, absolutely, but when he tired so early today our pressing game and defensive structure fell to pieces.

Da Silva is far from basic , he does the simple things well and doesn't panic under pressure . Also times his forward runs brilliantly and was a great outlet first half .

Can't judge how good we are as Boro were pants. I'm with MR when he said we were better at Leicester and for one lapse of concentration and a great goal we would have come away with something. Wilson again did everything you would expect from a class goalie other than his odd off target long balls. Again, near the end we looked a bit short down the left side until Bidwell came on. Da Costa tires I think. Saka and Wright look good players, Simms needs time. Godden (an experienced, class act) did what he has been doing all season but the luck was with him today. Midfield were good at times and back three looked fine apart from Boro,s spell of dominance. Milan way better than last week. Palmer ran a bit hot and cold. Kelly shored up the defence. Hackney Fox made an appearance for them and as usual huffed and puffed and his contribution, as usual, was a bit shit.
