Maybe that means that if they pay the 4m add in then the sell on is 10% of the capital gain (as such)?

So, if they win league or he gets 20 goals and they pay the 4m, sell him for 44m, we get 10% of 20m uplift/cap gain?

I can't see release clause ever being used

Next move if he does well will prob be 45m plus

Still minimum we should expect about 2 million coming to us.

Sometimes these gambles work (McCallum) sometimes they don’t.

To say there was never a chance of it paying off isn’t quite true - you never know.

The next stage of our development model should be to expand our u23 / u21 groups with outbound loan opportunities for several youngsters.

There are rough diamonds out there, and as MR said yesterday - we have a development model in place.

The Abel Alabi gamble should be seen as a positive- better to try and not succeed than to not bother.
I agree, it's worth doing but it's a shame he's only playing at Alvechurch after being with us for 2 years.

I do think we took a more progressive tactic last year and loaned players out. The year before we kept everyone with us to fight for the title which we won, hooray! but at what cost, everyone in that squad have since been released except Tavares

Yes I agree.

Now that we are willing and able to spend more cash I wonder if we'll start to see a higher volume, and higher quality, of u21 signings with the aim of loaning a few out and hoping a few come good.

Main priority is obviously still the first team, but maybe we'll look to improve the youth prospects as well.

Looking at how we’ve decimated the U23s, and moved promising kids up to the first team I wonder if we’re not compressing what we’ve got a little bit first. Use U23s mostly as U18s, loan out anyone near the fringes of the first team. I think we’ll see fewer Cashman and Costello type signings and more 16/17 year olds, plus now we look like an established Championship side hopefully we’re filling out the younger age brackets with better quality than we’ve had the last 10-15 years.

I think now that the Gus / Vik issues are sorted the Mark and the staff should have a clear idea of budget / strategy.

We’ve a first team squad (Wiki) of 23 including Moore, Allen and Cal.

The U21’s have only a small number that are anywhere near.

With 9 man bench we need a main squad of 25 plus and maybe 8 U21’s to have in and around.

We need another 3-5 first team squad decent signings and then look at picking a few u21/23 “gambles”.

It’s good that we aren’t relying on so many loans now.

We need a few “Alabi” type signings to and to let the Rus types have a run out in the lower leagues.

What we don’t need is chucking a load of budget and squad space on Waghorn types. No offence to Waghorn as a person and I can only assume that the club strategy was to have a player that “knew the division” but financially it was madness at a time we had no money. We could have signed 3/4 semi-gambles of which 1 might have gone on.

Bayliss scored for Shrewsbury and JCH still knocking them in for Peterborough, thought he would have left there by now considering he was linked with Championship clubs.

If he scores 30+ in the league AND scores a few in Europe (including internationals) then he could well get a big move.

I guess it depends on who he scores the goals against in European club games and at international level.

I actually feel that both Vick and Gus have made moves where they think they can stand out this season and get bigger moves ot of them.

It's why they said they would stay with us if we went up, we would have been the club they used for the big transfer after performing well in a top league.

Even if we went up, if they had good seasons i don't think they would have stayed longer than 1 more season.

Often wonder how good Bayliss could’ve been if he’d hung around under Robins

I thought he and Marosi still looked pretty good in the pre-season game at Shrewsbury.
Not sure how they'd do in the league above though, even for a lower end team

Marosi was alright until he had his head kicked in. Was going to take time for him to fully recover and we couldn’t afford the risk of him not being 100% right.

Jones hit the bar for Notts County on Tues in their 0-0 draw at Morecambe. Probably should have scored again.

Jones scored again for Notts C in their 3-1 win at Doncaster. Doesn't that just about make him as good as our L2 Jodi? Hope so, for him.
