But can't it potentially have long term effects in terms of the shape of the heart, elongating it and potentially resulting in things like an irregular heartbeat.
I've had something similar but not as serious and i can tell you right now, it's incredibly painful and scary as fuck when you don't know what it is. Feels like someone has punched through your sternum and is squeezing your heart everytime you take a breath.

I’ve had it, it is not a heart condition but a condition that could affect the heart, you might ask what’s the difference which I did but there is a difference. Once found and treated everything is 100% okay.

I don’t think they made light of it, it seems some on here did saying he would be back in weeks.
The reality is these things affect people in different ways. His health is much more important than pushing himself to play professional football right now.

I think healthwise he'll be fine, but the inflammation can be a problem and if you're working your heart hard as a pro athlete the chance of an attack are massively increased. I completely stopped doing particular exercises after a bout of a similar condition because they were far more likely to result in an attack. Even now, years later, my body tells if I start getting a bit too enthusiastic with early warning signs of a tight chest.

Lockyers was atrial fibrillation (irregular heart beat) I think. Can be resolved quite easily in most cases. Allen’s is different and sounds trickier/not as straightforward to sort
Yeah I’ve had same issue as Lockyer. Very common actually. Operation isn’t too bad and generally resolves the issue without complications. Nothing to do with vaccinations either!
Should think Allen would need an all clear from a specialist and I can imagine they may be reluctant to give a pro athlete an all clear when there’s more risk of complication. Will be a while until we see him unfortunately. Must be looking at some sort of procedure to allow him to play again.

What’s WPW? Mine was Supraventricular tachycardia. I wasn’t familiar with the term adenosine challenge but having looked it up, yes. The ablation procedure is quite a bizarre experience, having things poke around at your heart while awake!

I've got ectopic beats which apparently are harmless. Had the tests etc. Still shits me up when it randomly starts beating like a drum and bass rave then a few seconds later back to normal
Try thumping yourself in the middle of your chest.

Its mad because it only seems to happen if I'm in a certain position or angle. I'm adamant its brought on by irritation the the Vagus nerve
Never heard of that tbh , don't think I've an attack for about 15.years.

If it's any help to you I've had ectopic beats for about 50 years, and you are correct that a lot of the time it's connected to the vagus nerve. Can also be caused by a shortage of magnesium and/or pottasium as well. Ectopic beats usually feel like a missed beat. If you suffer from tachycardias as well try pressing on your artery in your neck for a couple of seconds, that usually stops it for some reason.

Please don't take this the wrong way but it's reassuring you've had them for 50 years and are still here! I take a magnesium tablet every morning and have a banana a day ( full of potassium) and it definitely reduces them. The Vagus nerve thing always interests me because as you say it can try and spin off into tachycardia but if i kind of move abruptly or something it just reverts back to normal
