we’ve still got o hare and Allen to come back
I don't forsee any scenario where Allen gets decent game time.

We are clearly playing 2 upfront, and wingback, so that leaves 2 defensive midfielders an 1 attacking midfielder.

You could mix and match the 2 DM for 1 defensive and 1 attacking of course, but either way you play it, Allen isn't getting a game ahead of Palmer, Sakamoto, O'hare, Ayari, Sheaf or Eccles.
That's already 6 players competing for 3 places.

And that's without the possibility of another player being added before the window closes.

Exactly 😂

we will have decent depth, another 3 signings we’ll be sorted.

hopefully o hare will be back soon

he seems really insistent on this midfielder

Reckon we’ll hold off spending until January or next summer now as clubs will know we’ve got money from Hamer and asking for more the closer it gets to the deadline.
Quite possibly, Unless we're still in the hunt for Callum Styles who reportedly has a £2m release clause.

He can play anywhere in midfield and even LWB, so his quality and versatility would be a big asset. We could even let Bidwell go then.

Smaller squad than last season then and no significant replacement for Hamer. A little more depth in certain positions but it was clear that we had nothing on the bench to change the game on Saturday, some help to close the game out. We missed Palmer now that Gus has gone. I feel we're only a couple of injuries to key players away from being uncompetitive in the top half.
100% agree, that bench against Swansea was pretty appalling tbf and it’s not like our starting 11 is perfect either, we definitely need more depth and for players like Eccles to be on the bench rather than starting week in week out.

He won’t start week in week out 😂

Allen was a regular last season and captain on occasion whilst also signing a new contract. It's a nonsense to suggest if he's fit enough and up to speed (not a given) that Robins won't have him in his plans - he (and Viveash) clearly rate him.

We had no Allen, no o hare,no ayari and no Palmer

course it’s not going to be that strong yet, with more signings to come

Yeah you’re right tbf, Ayari should take his place but the fact Eccles is even our first defensive midfielder bench option is not great, he’s definitely stepped up this year but we’ve gotta look at the teams above us and think would they ever want to sign the likes of Sheaf, Eccles or even Lati for that matter. I don’t wanna be too negative about it because it’s been a great transfer window so far but I really hoped with the Gyokeres and Hamer money we’d have signed some more solid midfield and defensive options by now.

Lati? I think he’s been good

Eccles is a good squad player he’s only starting at the moment because we’re bedding in a loan and we’re gonna sign another starter it sounds like

we’ve spent a couple of million on Thomas, yes I would like another LCB

if in a weeks time it’s the same state of affairs then I totally agree with you, but it won’t be

Also I know it’s just speculation at this point but there’s no guarantee O’Hare stays fit all season, he’s already had a fair few bad injuries, same issues could happen again tbf. Like I said I don’t wanna be too pessimistic about it but I feel in seasons gone by we’ve always been playing catch up, I’d hate for the same thing to happen again this season just when we’re in the swing of things. Surely lots of options is better than not many?

Yeah that’s fair enough, Lati has been decent tbf but I just want us to go above and beyond this season, maybe bring in one or two signings that teams like Norwich or Leeds would bring in. I feel like our club is in a great place and to not get the most out of the Vik & Gus money would be a shame.

Maybe saddle is right then and hamer replacement yet to come

Its true. Last I was told about that before he started being a wind up merchant was Hamers replacement is coming from Abroad and was lined up for a while incase the worst was to happen and Gus leaves. But. Bajcteic n that so pinch of salt i suppose

I cant see us not replacing Gus. Doug cant spout join the journey etc then replace our best player with a 19 year old loan

I still think we will get CB, CM, ST before 11PM Next Friday

And fully expect Moore to go, Howley and Rus to end up in L1 and L2 respectively on loan

And of course no more loans expected as per Robins himself

We're 3 games in, were not "clearly" playing 2 up top. Horses for courses or an injury to Godden and it'll be 2 behind 1, Allen signed a 2 year extension just 3 months ago, he is in the plans

Well I suppose they might, he’s decent and can hold his own but would just love to see another big signing, someone that would start every week for a team like Leeds or Leicester, I think the level this season is so much higher than normal, that’s the level we’ve got to be aiming for. We’ve got so much potential and probably the best manager in the league, there’s no reason we can’t aim for top 2 if we get 1-2 more real quality players.

Also just seen this on Twitter, apparently from MR’s press conference:

“We're looking to add our own players. We've got two loans in now and really that's what we'd sort of spoken about at the start maybe having one or two loans… I'm still looking to add a midfield player, somebody who can maybe manage that transition…”

Really hope that’s a quality £5-£8 million signing, come on King let’s get it done! 🙏

Team places are usually decided by fitness and form. If you get in and you play ok and the team is getting results MR doesn't normally make too many changes.

Why does the value matter? Hamer, Sheaf and Gyokeres only cost 3 million between them

I don’t think it matters completely but obviously the more well regarded players come at a premium, I’d rather we pay the premium and get in a quality CM to work alongside Sheaf than take a risk and get someone from a league one team and hope they can be as good as Hamer. Obviously it can happen and we should take risks here and there with cheaper players like the Brighton model etc, but I think we’re at the stage where we can afford to buy a real quality midfielder to cement our place in the top 6.

And the flip side is we pay £5mil on a supposedly better player and he is shit. What then? Wasted your entire budget on a single player. You want to pay a premium to replace a player we literally didnt pay a premium for in the first place.

Fair point, but maybe the same could happen for the cheap riskier player, and you’d imagine the probability of a more well-regarded player being shit is a lot less than a gamble on a league one player for example. I’m not saying there’s a right or wrong but personally I’d rather us buy a solid quality player who we know has bags of ability than buy someone who we hope has ability.

Sheaf walks into most teams in this league. Criminally underrated by our fan base.
