Well... the argument was Villa would buy him back to sell him again for a fat profit straight after.

Player would cut out the Villa bit wouldn't they? Buying club would also end up paying less in that instance as they'd know there was a clause in there.

Seems a lot to me but i guess thats what football is now. Clever of Villa to put a buyback in, they could use it even if they don't want him, just to flip him, if he does well.
One of the rare cases where a buy back clause makes sense and will most likely be activated at the end of the season.
