This is all pure speculation based off the postings of one person on here who doesn’t even get that much right.

We have zero idea whether we’ve actually been switching targets or not.
Most of this is not Saddlebrains tbf, Kitching was mentioned on here by another poster ages ago and since then its been reported that we did bid. Brekalo was Slovenian and Norwegian journos. Styles may have been Saddle but i'm sure a few leaked that one. O'Brien was reported everywhere. Domestic midfielder was Turner.

We need goal scoring midfielders. We needed that before Hamer even left. To be in this position is a bit frustrating and I think the goodwill after reinvesting the Gyökeres money will start running out if we don't see something similar happen with some of the Hamer money. It's been a flat few weeks.

Obviously there's still some hours left so let's reserve judgment until the window is actually closed, but I really hope we can bring a couple of midfielders in.

At this point last season we didn't have any goal scoring midfielders and didn't bring any in.

Hamer had 1, as did Sheaf, but it was only later in the season Hamer and to a lesser extent Allen really emerged and found their shooting boots.

Of course I wouldn't turn my nose up at signing a goal scoring midfielder but if we don't I'm confident Robins will get a tune out of the players we have.

I really struggle to believe any of these rumours that come out from people like Alan Nixon where a load of clubs have been linked to a player. I’m sure we probably would be interested in O’Brien if he was available on loan, but there is nothing to suggest we completely abandoned whoever else we were after to try and get him and failed.

As for Brekalo, foreign journos also said we were in for Vente and all sorts of random other players this summer. Sure, we could be in for him, but it could also just be his agent throwing in an English club they know has money (hence why Leeds also keep getting linked to the same players as us).

If we were in for Styles he’d probably already be here seeing as he has a release clause.

The only player we know for sure that we’ve been in for recently is Kitching because it’s been reported at both ends that we had a bid rejected.

Saying that we’ve spend the past few weeks panicking and constantly switching targets because there have been some very vague rumours from relatively questionable sources feels a bit of an exaggeration.

But can’t you see that your position is basically “anything that doesn’t suit my opinion I’ll write off as nonsense”.

I’m just saying that my gut is that we’ve not got our ducks in a row and that supported by the fragments of semi-reliable info we get. You’ll note I didn’t put Bajcetic or Kawasaki in there.

I think journalists know what positions certain clubs are interested in. They get a sniff of say Leeds interested in CM then add Coventry, x,y and z are interested too.

Anyway whether we are or aren't it adds up to nothing until they are through the door.

For £10m+ I think we could have done better.
I mean Robins doesn't even play them a full game or play them together and Godden is the lead striker.
You can already see there is a problem.

I think we’ve done about right for the money we’ve spent but I admit that Simms could be playing a bit better than he currently is.
I do agree about the Godden situation though, he’s a very good back-up striker and puts in a good shift but I would love to see Robins just tweak it slightly this week and play Simms and Wright together or just play Wright on his own up front with Saka and Ayari in behind, just something slightly different would be good to see, if it works then great if not then at least we know.

Reasonable suggestions. But I don't think you will see that this Saturday. More likely after the break when they have had more training time together and know the outcome of the transfer window.

Got to be honest. I’m not there yet and willing to give lots of time. But I’ve been worried about the strikers since we bought them. Both have excellent goal scoring records wherever they’ve been though so willing to hold my tongue until the end of the season.
Wright is very expensive - he really does need to be a superstar for his price.

Allen was actually ahead of Hamer in the goalscoring until he got injured. If he hadn't, he'd have reached double figures too.

Sheaf does actually have a decent shot on him, and his Wembley penalty was class too. He really should be getting more goals than he does.

Im not too bothered about them scoring yet. More what I’ve seen from them as footballers so far. Basic stuff that you’d expect players commanding their fees to be able to do: trap a ball, move to space, pass ten yards, hold a man off. I know we were spoiled by Vik and Gus but the drop off in technical ability is frankly scary.

I think there’s a decent argument someone like Yates or Piero and a gamble from the lower leagues might have been a more prudent shout.
I agree and would put trust in the process that's done us well since Robbins came back of developing potential. However, we've lost a bloke for £20M+ imagine the uproar if we didn't aim high at some apperent "quality" to appease fans.

With the Vic money, we seem to be shopping at Waitrose rather than Aldi. It's a bit like after winning the cup, when George or John made a reference about buying from Harrods. We got Speedie who was a proven force at Chelsea and though he scored first game, went on a dry run. Was even dropped to the bench I seem to recall at one point. Needed time to gel with Regis and the gang.

Might actually watch Sky Sports last day transfer show this time, now we have a few bob left.

We need at least 2 maybe 3 if we can just to bulk up the squad that's if no one else goes out apart from Moore... If we don't a few injuries will catch us out, with 2/3 new players top 6 is possible if none or just 1 more like 8th to 12th IMO

Speedie turned out to be better in midfield or what’s now called the number 10 roll.

I'm pretty confident that we can add this one to G's spreadsheet and re-visit come the end of the season.

Respect the difference of opinion though. As ludicrous as I think it is ;-)

It's a opinion. The guy said we are 2 transfer players off being a top side and I dont think we are with our strike force.
Godden is the first striker on the team sheet should tell you something.
It was an opinion stated as a fact they haven't pulled up trees just yet but nor did gyok to start with.

If we don't sign anyone today this site will be on meltdown tomorrow, with all the rumours, sightings at KFC and ''the lights are still on at the Ricoh'' type rumours. I can't wait!!

To devils avocado a bit: Players take a while to understand how Robins wants them to play and it’s not unusual for him to start existing players for a bit while they learn. Robins has said himself he likes Godden on the pitch to help the others know how to play.
Plus they're not up to Robins fitness levels. Godden is to his standard. So it would be foolish to play one of them all game until fit enough.

if you are frustrated by the lack of signings this week just think how Austin, King and Robins must feel. They are the ones working like mad to bring them in. Their frustration must be ten fold the average fans.
