My heart bleeds for them, dee dumms.

A lifetime as a service engineer working 24/7 doing a full days work leaving home at 6am and getting home (if you're lucky) at 7pm and then being called out anytime through night regularly in an area from the North Midlands to Devon and Cornwall including the whole of Wales was my lot.

Holidays.... I lost track of how many days/weeks/months I didn't have off due to constant resourcing issues.

No wonder I'm fit for f**k all now I've finally retired.

Professional athletes eh, yeah when it suits.
Should have looked after yourself better and got a new job

Not sure if serious. But let me know and I’ve got a couple of gifs to post either way.

Sent from Tenerife on my third week in a row off work.

It was a joke, but I don't think I made it obvious enough. I'll do better next time!

P.S post the GIF anyway

5 or 6 of them that were in the starting line up at Wembley?

The rest have had a long enough break.
I wish I could have a month of in summer, and a week off in September and every Monday off. While only training for 3 hours a day, while "earning thousands a week" Fucking hard done too or what?

Compared to NHS staff or emergency workers or care workers etc, who work shifts and cover 24/7 - 365 for shit money it's a doddle.
NHS staff are heroes. But they don’t have 20 thousand people paying to watch them treat Doreen’s gout every week. Nor do you have grown men paying £50 to wear a NHS uniform and have a meltdown if it doesn’t arrive on time. The comparison is totally null and void.

Hope I've got enough points for Leicester Hospital away next year

To be fair, there are that many documentaries on the NHS on TV some of them could argue that indirectly, they do have people paying (a licence fee) to watch them every week

Would be interesting to know if the actors pretending to be nurses on 'Casualty' are paid more than real nurses

Some absolutely hilarious posts on this thread. Hope the players on holiday read this at some point and laugh at the patheticness.

I have been a service engineer on call. I didn’t get called out for 24 hours a day and I doubt you did either. No footballer ever gets NYD or Christmas Day because there’s always football scheduled.

If you are seriously claiming you never slept or had a day off in 40 years of working well then

Lies No GIF
You know full well what I mean about working 24/7 and for your information yes me and my colleagues were on standby 24 hours. To interpret my post as never having had a day off or slept throughout my working life is simply ridiculous.

The thing is shmmeee I'm not bellyaching about what it is that I did to earn a living and the amount of time I was at work no more so than I'm bellyaching about footballers (or any other profession), we all have choices, I made mine and footballers have theirs. Unsocialable hours come with the territory more so than ever in today's society, we all have to do what we do to get the job done.

Words like spite have been used in response to my original post which is unfair and just not so, there was never any malice intended and if individuals interpret my ramblings in that way then please accept my apologies.

One final note though, MR has consistently bemoaned that we are not at the same level as some are in the league at this moment in time due to POs semis and final. Isn't this enforced international break an appropriate time to catch up on lost time and I'm not suggesting that players run up and down Pork Chop Hill (for those old enough to remember it) with a rucksack filled with bricks in the midday sun for the next 7 days. I'm sure Robins said he'd be giving the players a COUPLE of days off this week after his post match interview last weekend. Has a couple of days been extended to enable players a minibreak?

Just a thought.

Apparently seeing a couple of pictures on instagram provides you with full details about the length of the players' holidays and all of the activities they carry out whilst there.

I think you'll find that they have 60+ million people relying on them for their health, and every tax player contributing to the system, as well as being the biggest employer with a multi billion pound budget.

Your analogy is one of the most bizarre and rediculous posts I've ever read on here. And that's saying something.

So you never go on a long weekend or a couple of days away here or there when you are able to.
I don't have my gaffer saying have a few days away fully paid on me, when I've got an empty weekend ahead anyway.

Not that I blame them, im just jealous.

And 1 win in 5 games must mean they've earned it. Right? No need to be practicing or anything!

Hamer loved an all inclusive getaway when he was here, nobody had a problem with him going up for seconds

I would just like to clarify my comment on your post was tongue in cheek even though a couple have thought otherwise...duh

I am glad they are away.

Holiday's are the best way of recovering, unless you are climbing a mountain or on the Magaluf strip.

I wish some posters would go on holiday during the international break rather than trying to be Jeremy Vine and dream up non event heated debates!
