Like us, you are in League 1 for a good reason, we will never be Man Utd, Arsenal etc, nor will you.
But we mixed it with them for 34 continues years. Yep we are now league 1 and deserve to be with the way the club has been run. Don't understand why some cov fans are embarrassed by our history though eh Gary?
And you deserved to be mixing it with them for all that time, now, you dont. I hope you go up tbh
The only point I can argue with that is see you at swindon next season if you don't go up. Us older cov fans live on our history but in our hearts we are realistic about the future
Yes, thats for away teams with a large following, unlike yourselves.
It is a shit stand, thats for sure, although the passion that most supporters have for their team is usually enough to convince them to rough it.
The reality is, home and away, our support isn't great. If you're truly honest.
Football is the national game. Coventry is one of the biggest cities in the United Kingdom. With over 300K inhabitants, to take 1,000 to a game, which is some 0.3% of the city's populous isn't exactly tribal unity is it?
As 99.7% would have been twatting about in the Dreams Superstore looking at faux pine tall-boys or whatever they are
But there is reasons for all you have said. If we challenged for promotion or even if we did get promoted we'd see our attendances rise massively.

Sad to hear about shirters getting attacked, its wrong and any normal Swindon fan would condemn such behaviour
You're criticising an away following of 1100 in League 1?
Swindon's away followings this season:
Hartlepool 461
preston 867
Carlisle 315
Portsmouth 1400
Shrewsbury 875
Bury 408
Apart from your big night out at Pompey, pretty abject for a team at the right end of the table and on the back of promotion, regardless of distance.
I remember being in that stand behind the goal when we took over 3000 for the FA Cup tie, but so what, it was a cup game. Had we played you on the opening day of this season, or an important game at the end of the season, we'd have filled it again. Circumstances.
jon what did you think of the Coventry side? Look a good team or not?
I've had to join this forum to ask this question to these muppet Swindon Town fans..............Sorry but who the F@@K are Swindon Town FC ??? Remembered for getting smashed by Man Utd in the Prem and you call that "Mixing It Up" lol av a word we will see what's what when you come to the Ricoh with your 500 fans at best.Your managers Mouth and attitude seems to be rubbing off on your club as a hole if he does go to Blackburn it could be a blessing in disguise. Also very strange to see Collins celebrate like that regardless of what stick if any he got.......Poor decision.
I thought this said "SHITTERS"!
sensible question deserves a sensible answer, robins has got you well set up and hard to beat. You have quality going forward, seem to play football on the ground, a physical presence and i would happily have a few quid on you going up. The only negatives i could suggest on the 90 mins i saw was like most teams, your players fall over a lot, this aint exclusive to coventry by any means, just an observation, the only other thing i can suggest would be the fact you sat very deep in the 2nd half and let us play our game. Tiredness? Who knows but if coventry, with the current squad, aint in the top 6 by the end of the season i would be amazed
yes, we are swindon, formed in 1879 and apart from a season in the prem, a few lower league championships and a league cup win v arsenal in 69 thats about who i think we are, hardly chelsea i know, but proud of our club none the less. Di canio can go tomorrow and we will still exist, we will still have billionaire backers and we will move on, thats what happens in football. As for 500 fans? Thats laughable to be honest but thats you opinion. You will see we bring nearer what we took to leicester last season as you aint far from swindon. As another poster pointed out, for our smaller population we have a reasonable following and the 1400 to pompey was on a wet tuesday night, so not a bad effort.
What a shite post.A load of teen chav wanabees bulshitting throughout.Come to the Ricoh Stfc for a real welcome.a pint or two and a safe passages all the way to the away end.
Coventry away will be one of your biggest away games this season so I'd expect at least 2000 at The Ricoh. However, your other away followings are hardly staggering considering your recent success.
I honestly think the only reason we lost the 2 goals yesterday was because Fleck and Wood went off injured in a short amount of time, up until that point we were good for the win. We seemed to completely lose shape after that point for 10/15 mins and the defence looked shaky without Wood. I think if we continue to improve like we have in the last 4/5 games we'll definitely be fighting for a top 6 place, be only time will tell.
2-3000 i would imagine, although most stfc fans will tell you villa at home on oct 30th will probably be our biggest games this season. Our away followings this season are ok, bearing in mind we have had carlisle (540 mile round trip), preston (350 miles) hartlepool (520 miles), stoke on a tuesday night, preston (320 miles) and god knows how far bury is but we did ok. Our away attendances will rise as the season goes on as more away games are closer, such as coventry, walsall, yeovil, stevenage etc
Maybe the thirty-odd year stint in the top flight introduced apathy? Maybe much more of a roller-coaster ride would make people truly appreciate what we were fortunate enough to have?
Truth is - bar exceptions - home and away, we're poorly supported. Compare us against clubs such as Norwich, Derby, Leicester, let alone clubs like Stoke or 'Boro - all of which are smaller cities than Coventry; and division for division we don't compare. And haven't for a long time.
For 0.3% of the population to have travelled to Swindon isn't something we should be shouting about. Statistically, I bet that number of our population dress as an otter every second Tuesday and shag the microwave - but we don't shout about that, do we?
Absolute nonsense. I mean just rubbish.
We had this discussion the other week. In the all time list we have the 20th highest average, above all the clubs you have mentioned apart from Leicester who are one place above. You may not have noticed, but we were in the same league as Stoke a few seasons ago and our home crowds and away followings were bigger.
As for the tired old argument about population. "City" population is only part of the story - urban area is much more relevant. Nottingham is a smaller 'city' than Coventry, but it's urban area is much bigger (by a mile), so too Leicester and Stoke. And they you can talk about catchment area - Norwich represent the county of Norfolk and draw their support from large swathes of eastern England. That said, it is only relatively recently that they have had better gates than us on a consistent basis.
Another example, Leicester, draw their support from Leicestershire - population nearly 1 million, whereas Coventry & Warks is 800,000 and lets be honest, how many people in places like Stratford and Shipston on Stour identify themselves with Coventry? Even in the relatively close Warwickshire towns we are competing with Leicester and Villa - whereas the larger Leicestershire towns are much more loyal to Leicester than Nuneaton is to Coventry for example.
The % of population/away following thing is just silly. When Villa take 1500 somewhere then thats 0.003% of the population of Birmingham if you split it in two. In fact both Villa and Blues have terrible support if you're going to go down the population/average gate thing.
Nobody is saying 1100 to Swindon is great (you seem to be labouring under the illusion that people are jumping up and down about it). It was decent at this level, no more no less.
Post of the month above, no doubt MMM will come back with plethora of phrases and complex words to force home a point that doesn't exist.
*sits tight*
