It's the price tag, isn't it? If he'd been £2m we'd still remember his goal, the Leicester near miss, and his part in the built up to a couple of Godden goals. And without the expectation that the fee brings, his head wouldn't have dropped so rapidly.

Yeah atmosphere, basically. But around the whole club. Same way people said the club was buzzing when we got to the playoffs. Players interact with fans and pick up on the mood of the crowd. It’s a definite thing. I’m not sure what you can do though.

Well it's not like fans can automatically be happy with poor football, can they? And overpaid/underperforming record signings in particular.

I agree that booing is counter-productive and I wouldn't do it, never had and never will apart from maybe the odd owner. But online? That is a totally different matter, we're discussing footballers on a place for it. I don't think "vibes" from Sky Blues Talk matter one jot!

The price tag is definitely the problem. As you say, if he'd been bought for a lot less as a squad player/ impact sub, the conversation would be very different. Personally, I'm realistic about the price. It's a huge sum for CCFC of course, but in Premier League squads there are loads of duds who cost four times as much. £10m is the new £1m unfortunately, and it's getting obscene.

Gyokeres did very little given his chance to start today. Not interested in signing backup players, would rather look to improve the first XI and the squad in that way. So thanks but no thanks.

If I have to choose between Gyokeres or Biamou I’d take Max but we need another as priority buying strikers is a nightmare for any manager, going back over our history of big money at the time signings failures Chris Chilton, Kevin Drinkell, Bobby Graham, Tony Hateley all regular goal scorers at the time but all flopped here and probably our best Ian Wallace was a bargain at£40k.

If we are to progress next season a better striker than all of our options this season is required. Obviously finding one is the difficult part

I wouldn't touch Gyokeres, I think we'll go into the summer with Walker as first choice and try to find someone to play along side him, maybe go with a target man.

Style of player mostly. Doesn’t seem to be the target man we needed and seemingly has been tried and failed at this level already. At least with Gnanduillet (sp?) there’s a chance he can step up. And last season he did better than any of our strikers in L1.

We're not talking about Gyokeres though are we.

Expecting Wright to follow in the same footsteps as Gyokeres is like expecting lightning to strike the same place twice.

Or like saying Walker, Waghorn, Biamou, Bakayoko, Cashman etc etc etc would of turned in to £20million pound players if we'd of stuck with them a little longer.

From what I have seen in Tavares (cant be more than 180 mins) hes more ability and x factor. From the 500 plus mins I have seen of Wright and the 180 mins of Tavares. I'd be developing Tavares rather than that lump.

Well one is a full international and the other is only a few years younger and has hardly played any first-team football and looks way out of his depth at this level.

And the position he plays is arguably the toughest on the pitch, which is why plenty of big strikers only grow fully into the role relatively late in their careers. Haji hasn't played in a league like this before so we have to give him time to adapt, and more support in the form of runners from midfield.
