Starting to think that poaching the Director of Football from St Albans City and giving him £35 million to spend may not have been the genius move we thought it would be.
Maybe if our owner had watched a game of football prior to buying us he may have made a better judgement call on that one.

He's the main source of my anger at the moment. The morning after the last two games I have still woken up fuming. I'd like to see a Paxman type interview with him where he is quizzed on the scouting of Haji Wright. With the interviewer setting the context of our spending as a club over the past 20 years and whether Austin has any respect for money.

Exactly this. I also want to know if it’s true we signed Simms cos he was offered to us, and whether the same happened with Thomas. Also “Kitching: WTF?”

I'm assuming Wright was signed on statistics

Well you can’t say we weren’t warned looking at the responses by their fans

Having thought about it .. it's a little bit mental to be throwing his recruitment under the bus until the season is over or looks to be over ..

Imagine the amount of posts on here and in other threads that will be pulled up if we end up having a stormer of a season because we stopped conceding late 🙃

With some luck we'd be sat top 6 ? Late goals against Hull, Huddersfield, Leicester etc whilst only being in 2nd gear

In what respect ? Like i said football is a game of fine margins , we could just as easily be sat 5th had we saw out even just the game at Hull and the game at home Monday.. even then we're 5 points off 5th after 8 games .. it's too early to be wetting our knickers .. ofcourse haji wright looks to be a poor buy atm but even he could turn good ..

I'm telling you with Mark robins teams too many people over the last few seasons have been made to eat their words many times over ..

Let's wait and see , we never start particularly well under him

I suppose the counter is most of our points have been secured by existing players

The only one I’m seriously worried about is Wright, for a club like us spending that money he simply has to be a success and while he still has time to turn it round, the early signs aren’t promising
Yeah, annoys me platty that a small section of fans think we’re now loaded with cash and can afford for him to flop

don’t get me wrong, think Milan Joel and JDS are very good signings, but 2 of them are well used to this division, therefore there’s no risk

you could then argue this is where the others need time etc, I just think wright especially is an absolute donkey and says everything about Dean Austin’s talent identification

would rather us have strengthened in 3/4 positions with the same amount of money re wright

I can take wright missing a chance, what I can’t take is the damn right laziness to be offside 3 times in 5 minutes so they can pump it up again, although defensively we were shite at the end too granted

I never was expecting any more than midtable. Ending up midtable with a squad having a year's extra experience both at this level and this club would be an OK foundation going forwards, if we then add to the squad next summer.

So we're giving up on the new signings then?
Da Silva and Van Ewijk have been excellent.
Bobby Thomas & Hadji Wright were being raved about after the first 3-4 games. They have hit bad form, that's it.
Sakamoto has looked good, as has Lats.
Simms is starting to pick up.
Kitching and Collins haven't played
Gave up on wright yes seen enough

no first touch
Can’t hold it up
Gets bullied by half decent centre backs

The two wing backs haven’t been excellent and one was signed without any input from Austin anyway

I doubt he’d have chose simms either or Joel as these are known players

Thomas has been poor after one hour of game 1

when scouting sakamoto originally we signed him cos he impressed in a game when we were watching another player 😂
