I’ve decided, although my memory may be fading and therefore happy to be corrected, that Eccles reminds me of pre-injury Lloyd McGrath.
Sorry, don't get the comparison. Lloyd McGrath was a full blooded battler. Very strong in the tackle and a great man marker. Eccles is more of a technical player.

Wilson 9?

A competent ref and hes given away a penalty.

Ok admittedly I had forgotten about that. But that save was absolutely top class and I think, if I remember rightly, that kept it at 0-0? Could of been a very different game if we had gone 1 down

Can't really rate reasonably given that i listened via radio but it sounded like Allen was particularly good. Simms getting a brace should obviously have him towards the top end of the ratings too. Wilson's save sounded amazing and the fact he managed to disguise his blatant foul for the penalty should get him at least an 8 😂

I give that as a default rating and didn’t see much reason to go higher or lower
He just about gets a pass. Was clean through twice. First was brilliant touch tobcpme through defence and create a chance one on one.

2nd time clean through on RHS. Had 3 potential simple passes to pass to a team mate passes straight at defender. Unbelievable.

Seems when he has time to think he freezes.

Robins does make an excellent point that for the goal Simms had no time to think and just went with instinct for the finish, a bit like Wright’s solitary goal too. The more time they have to think, they overcomplicate and the chance goes.

One thing I will say about Simms is the sheer power he can hit the ball. The strike on Monday and the first today were kit so well.

More so than the chap sat near us on the coach whose friend was arrested for breaking chairs which is some achievement
How? They were metal and was like the Krypton Factor working out how to open them!

Only the “safe standing” seats were metal - the rest of the seats seemed to be the normal plastic tip up variety.
