Seems to me like the police are using this to make an example. There's been a lot of concerns in the past year or so about the mocking of tragedy in football. There's a lot of concerns about Manchester United and Liverpool fans mocking club tragedies. Similar with the Leeds.
It's actually a directive from the FA.

Perhaps he should look for a better solicitor then.
perhaps folk like you shouldn't be gagging for stuff that has no business being a criminal matter being processed as such

charging anything the public see as iffy as "offending public decency" is frankly dangerous

They have the genetic disorder known as being a c**t.

Mind you Sunderland not in the best position to be outraged by people mocking death

Didn't take long for certain Sunderland fans to claim their death-mocking is "totally different".

This is where football fans (as a collective entity) fall down....... they'll try and justify anything in their own favour.

Yeah, but it's not in place of the current line which is very overcrowded.
So it’s one extra line, stopping at very few stations and for which tickets will probably be very expensive. So many who would have used it either work from home or meet on zoom. It will be an economic disaster and I genuinely don’t think it will have as many users as was anticipated in the business case.

I look forward to arrests next time they do it.

We aren't many years away from being unable to drive petrol cars. If you regularly travel from the South to Coventry, you know it's painfully overcrowded. We need another line to the North to ease the congestion.

Travel by train will be a necessity in 20 years. We can't all fit onto 3 trains per our from Avanti.

1000%. It's apparently not as bad because Jimmy Hill was older.

To be fair I can think of a few comedians that could face the same charge. It’s a nonsense. Unpleasant but far worse things said in private I imagine

The problem they've now created is who decides where the line is? Why is this more offence than celebrating Jimmy Hill being dead and who gets to make that decision?

Should be in the OT thread about this, but this is just wrong. It’s not about getting to London quickly. It’s needed for capacity.

What’s wrong with that???
Fk me, a new low even for this place!

So it's ok to mock the deaths of 6 kids. Do you not think other Derby fans at the game might have been affected by this? In the same way it's not just Bradley's parents who find what happened last week offensive.

I was with you on jail time being too much, but surely you can see why this would be upsetting?!

What? Who is mocking their deaths?

Can we not make Josef Fritzel or Harold Shipmena jokes? What’s the rule here?

Edit: wait, is there a football link here?

It's a horrible thing to say, but £750 fine?
We're on very dodgy ground here.

I mean one of those Wednesday idiots did nothing more than laugh at his stupid mate. Where does this end?

Would you tell Shipman joke to the relatives of his victims?

Don't be a bell end. 1) it's 6 dead innocent kids set on fire by their father 2) they were playing Derby

If you can't see how that differs you should worry.

I got a few but I don't really have the time to be arrested atm and I'd rather put the £750 towards something for the house.

The punishment is debatable but saying nothing wrong with it as shmmeee did is out of order

Saying it to the families is of course very different but we are on dodgy ground here. As a country we've always excelled in dark humour, it's one of the few things we still have going for us.

I agree, I'd joke too on Fritwell or Shipman. But Bradley or the philpotts and to do it publicly is a different level.

I'd say the only difference is it makes you look like a bellend. I'm happy to joke about pretty much anything but would draw the line at a kid dying of cancer. Problem is who decides where the line is? Plenty of soft cunts would draw their line long before I've drawn mine, therefore could someone come after me if I told a crass joke?

I've got pretty much similar lines in private circles and do understand what's too far. If it is too far then an apology should suffice in most cases. I think most are missing the pointvthough, I didn't say the punishment was right, I was more bothered that shmmeee thought it was fine. Its his opinion and he's entitled to it in the samecway I think he's a twat for holding that view.

I don’t see it the same as the Bradley thing TBH. It’s a publicly known horrific incident and we joke about those all the time. If I’ve missed something that links this locally and means it was targeted like the Bradley image then my mistake.

So quick summary for anyone catching up is you agree with the majority viewpoint but were also calling Shmmeee a twat.
