I mean a couple of these are close to the mark

He's a prick anyway. He used to be funny, now he tries too hard to be edgy and the rest of his act is simply anti-establishment

Yeh was funny about 20 years ago.

Jokes are always fine. Making a joke about horrible shit is a legitimate way to process and offence is entirely subjective. Being a c**t to another person about something that’s happened to them is something else.

I've got pretty much similar lines in private circles and do understand what's too far. If it is too far then an apology should suffice in most cases. I think most are missing the pointvthough, I didn't say the punishment was right, I was more bothered that shmmeee thought it was fine. Its his opinion and he's entitled to it in the samecway I think he's a twat for holding that view.

Honestly, I've found that most people who are happy to make offensive jokes about others, are the same people who have a meltdown if anyone makes a joke about them. I mean, just look at people like Trump - world's most fragile ego.

But Trump isn’t (intentionally) funny, he’s just mean.

Has nothing to do with what side of the political fence you sit on and should be concerning for everyone. Most people are hypocrites and would be happy to see someone who's joked about something they don't like taken down without seeing the bigger picture.

That’s a rather elitist view. Do you have a list of comedians it’s acceptable for people with an IQ above 100 to laugh at?

Poor job at interpretation there. I'm talking about your regular joe, most people aren't comedians.

You don't need to worry about that 😉😀

I'm surprised we haven't heard Tonys view on this now its gone completely off topic and slightly political. Luckily I think the title of the thread is keeping us safe as it looks too much like a football thread.

This is the problem though. Were saying you can only tell jokes if you’re good at it? If I follow a disabled kid around making disabled jokes that’s clearly a crime. If I make a misjudged joke about a national news incident like Grenfell or an arsonist killer or a killer doctor or whatever, I shouldn’t face prosecution IMO.

What's an example of the bigger picture?

It's not rocket science. Do you want people arrested for telling jokes, even very poor taste ones, yes or no?

I think you're reading way too much into what I'm saying, my point literally is that most people aren't funny. Your misjudged joke is probably also not funny.

And that’s fine, no one will laugh and I’ll get valuable feedback on my comedy. But should not being funny be a crime?

I agree, I'd joke too on Fritwell or Shipman. But Bradley or the philpotts and to do it publicly is a different level.
Hang on, a serial murderer and someone who imprisoned his daughter in a basement and raped her repeatedly is OK, but the other two are on a different level?!?

Seriously?!?

And before you call the public, you've said *and* public in your different level, you've still split the two!

This place has hit a new low!

Not an attack, just genuinely curious. You said taken down before, not arrested, which is an escalation. I would like to know an example of the bigger picture for context.

If it is we're all in trouble if the police start monitoring this forum. Apart from Slowpoke, genuinely hilarious.

I worry that what underlies this is a rather puritanical judgement on what it is and isn’t OK to laugh at. That precludes an assumption that everyone processes grief, shock and disgust in the same way, which just isn’t true.

Honestly, I think I've been dragged into a deeper discussion, when I just wanted to make my initial point without the politics.

Well I was talking about arrests, you have examples in this thread. It's just a yes or no answer.

Fk me, a new low even for this place!

So it's ok to mock the deaths of 6 kids. Do you not think other Derby fans at the game might have been affected by this? In the same way it's not just Bradley's parents who find what happened last week offensive.

I was with you on jail time being too much, but surely you can see why this would be upsetting?!
Snowflake. It's some stretch really to be so offended by that comment that you think it's worthy of prosecution.

Although this I suppose is slightly different this was to me far far worse

I am not sure how mentally stable Fox is but he should be off air for good now
He's got a coke problem, I saw a video of him the other day shaking like a shitting dog

Why so combative? I never said anything about anyone being arrested.
Fair enough, I guess I misunderstood your point. It shouldn't be political other than literally everyone should be against it, although social media suggests a depressing amount are all for it.

To be fair, and I didn't want to be dragged into anything, we have discrimination and hate speech laws in this country, so if it is deemed someone has broken the law they shouldn't be protected by the "pre-tense" of comedy. You do appear to be saying above that people should be able to make jokes without the fear of arrest.

Yes thats what i am saying, i think hate speech laws are dangerous too as who decides? But you're taking it even more off topic with that.

I've not once said anyone should be prosecuted for anything and don't see how in any of my posts that Ive repeatedly said nobody should that you could interpret it that way.

What I'm alluding to is that what you say in your social group of like minded people is different to positing something on a public forum for all to read including those who might be directly affected.

It's so unlike you to disagree with me and pull my posts apart. Shocked.
