I don’t think Godden should be ‘dropped’ but I think it would be sensible to rest him at some point given his injury history. Look at what happened to Kelly.
Kelly is consistently hamstrings, Godden is a variety of which some (appendicitis!) aren't really anything you can plan for.

Norwich have lost three of their last five, why shouldn't we look to beat them?

I think the 'free hit' notion is more borne from the fact that people would probably have snapped your hands off if offered 6 points from QPR, Blackburn and Norwich - add in the midfield situation, and I think some (possibly me included) would forgive a slip up (I obviously don't want one) The international break feels like something of a metaphorical lifeboat in terms of allowing players to return from injury. Feels like it may be a total reboot for restarting the season.

The international break will offer him a rest. As we have seen, (see Binks) all the squad will be needed at some point. Some stars will fall, some will rise.

It's telling he hasn't started Saka at RWB since the injury to Milan as we'd assume he got him to fit in that formation (MR rather than anyone else). Perhaps he'll use him there depending on the threat assessment of the other team, he hasn't looked too comfortable defending. Latz supposedly has experience in the role you suggest so that would make sense, though perhaps swap him with Eccles see how that goes if he don't trust Saka's defending. It's just a shame we have so many MF injuries and no proper depth as that still would mean keeping Jamie Allen back to fill in.
I don't think Robins see's him as wing back. He may have played there at his previous clubs but the championship is an unforgiving league and any weakness exploited. I think he's been brought in as a squad player filling in around when we have injuries. That said, it was interesting that he didn't come on and Ayari did on v Blackburn.

Apart from when he started him at RWB against Huddersfield...

Can't see Saka being more than an impact sub here, but good option to have and obviously can fill in starting line-up if needs be.

Godden seems to have become a very strange topic where he's either grossly underrated or grossly overrated and the 2 camps keep arguing the same points over and over. I cba to get into my thoughts on him at all as its all got very very strange. The Haji Wright thread is a shit show too.
I don't get why people have to polarise the discussion so much.

I think Wright and Simms should be given a go together. And since Robins rarely makes subs with more than 15 mins to go that means they have to start to get any reasonable game time.

That doesn't mean I think Godden is shit or doesn't have a place in the squad.

Surely he’s one of the first on the team sheet?

I think right now at AM running around a lot is exactly what we need. He breaks the lines well and offers options which Eccles Ayari Palmer and Kelly don’t.

Would he make it into a first XI with O’Hare fit? No. He doesn’t offer enough impact at AM. But as a pair of legs in a very static three man midfield he’s in his element.
I'm not so sure about that, obviously he'd have to play a little deeper, if Sheaf and O'Hare are fit then he's on the bench for definite.

It's definitely not a free hit! We've got a great home record, they're not on a great run, yes we've got injuries, but we should be looking at taking at least a point.

The notion that Godden is great at holding up the ball is complete fabrication.

can we stop pretending he does things he doesn’t to justify a point of view on including Godden.

Godden does 2 things well: finish, movement in and around the box.

Oh but he works hard I keep reading … yes he does, but with little impact. He makes very few interceptions, forced very few errors, etc.

He's done some decent hold up and link up play the last couple of games - he's shown himself to be better than the other two at it.

What abouts Goddens influence to the team in regards to morale and being part of the old regime? That's important, especially at the moment with so many new players and rumours of confidence issues. Also, I've never seen him looking so fit - so resting him seems pointless. He's a very important member of this team/squad.

I’m expecting an exciting performance full of goals…..well I’ve stumped up my cash for this one so hoping for the best. Somehow got to make sure we are not overrun in midfield 🤞
