Maybe for the higher ranking leaders of terror organisations. They want the money involved to increase their power. But the minions carrying out the atrocities, they are doing so because they have been radicalised from birth by extremes of a religion.

The problem isnt the religion, it is the way that men ( and it is almost exclusively men) interpret and twist things in a way that was never part of any religion’s philosophy. As far as I aware most world religions would have a creed of kindness, tolerance and respect for others.
It’s people (mostly men) who are responsible for the atrocities that go on, done in the name of their religion or their god but in reality for their own twisted or evil purposes.

You are right in some ways re the kindness and respect etc, but women were always second class citizens in the ancient scriptures.

I am not a theologian but I find it insanely sad that most major religions believe in the concept of a god but some will kill each other while arguing over how we get there.

That comment couldn’t be further from the truth. Islam is a peaceful religion interpreted in different ways just like any other. As said above me it’s men that do things in the name of religion but scratch the surface evil is in all societies, just that this particular issue is Muslim and Jewish. Having lived amongst them for 8 years we would be a much kinder society if we lived by their rules.

In the ficticious world where a secret mystical entity overlooks the earth theres the 'servants' that preach their various religions and if you give them money it will make your life here or the after life sooo much better although that has never been proved for various reasons, in the meantime the ficticious entities hand down all the various diseases and hatred towards fellow men and women after making the various servants of each fictitious entity richer, this to me is religion and maybe deep deep down inside of me theres a very small percentage of believing but seeing is believing and as no one on earth has ever managed to prove 100% that these entities are real I shall err to the side of what a load of vicious crap it all is !
