Best of our front 3 today

Simms is hapless out wide.

Don't agree. I think Simms is pretty good out wide. He was good last week against Presron when he came on. Beat his man on the outside a few times.

Godden was piss poor today, but is given a free pass. Its all the fault of Simms and Wright apparently.

He just doesn’t have the touch to play there.

I would push him inside, drop Godden and start Sakamoto out wide.

Said it in the match thread but Collins looks far more assured than Wilson. Unless he gets injured, I can’t see Wilson playing again this season.
Easy to get over excited especially as he had very little to do, but he claimed a cross (haven’t seen that in a long time) kicked well, and dealt with a few tricky balls into the box. Happy with what I saw albeit very little to do

Our 'strikeforce' are fucking dreadful, I'm even now looking forward to Tavares coming back and he's no good either....considering Robins was a striker apart from Vik he's not great at spotting decent ones really.
Special mention for Bidwell today definitely a marked improvement on Da Silva and he crossed more in this game than Da Silva in all the games for us
Starting to think we could have got 3 million for walker

Thought godden played well altho agree when he gets it wider it's no threat to opposition

Sheaf was good but still has his silly mistakes

Thought all back 4 were excellent

Good performance just didn't score

Sheaf has only shown up in patches for weeks in my opinion.
Thought Allen really struggled today as well.

I'd still persevere with that formation but that means in all liklihood bye-bye to Fadz which is sad because he's an absolute warrior.

Collins - 7
Bidwell - 8
Thomas - 8
Kitching - 7
Lati - 6
Eccles - 7
Sheaf - 5
Allen - 6
Wright - 6
Godden - 5
Simms - 7

Subs:
O’Hare - 5
Saka - 6

I don’t think I’d ever say this but Eccles played pretty well (apart from corners again) and Bidwell/Kitching/Thomas did a great job for the first time playing a whole game of 4 at the back.
Lati could maybe play CDM and Van Ewijk should definitely come in at RB. Then upfront Simms should play central striker role and Sakamoto could swap for Godden and play RW. I thought it was a proper brave performance today, deserved the win tbh.

Collins 7 not much to do but couple of good early throws
lati 6 struggled on the ball and defensively
thomas 7 has all the attributes but just looks like going to make a mistake that costs a goal most weeks
kitching 7
bidwell 9 great display
sheaf 8 good but still giving ball away to much
Allen 7 should have done better with his chance
eccles 7
simms 6 had the beating of his man for pace but his touch and control isn’t good enough at the moment
godden 7 great work rate but otherwise lack of quality
wright 7 looks like we need to try and get him angry or something

Really pleased we went to a back 4. All did well in my view, with Bidwell the pick. Collins 7, Lati 6, Thomas @ Kitching 7’s, Bidwell 8.

Midfield 3 all worked hard, 7’s. Still think we are missing a piece of the jigsaw though with not much available in the squad to add the needed quality and spark.

Front 3 I’m not sure about; some good, some indifferent, sometimes rather woeful - 6’s across the board. Didn’t really look like scoring despite creating opportunities.

Subs didn’t make a difference unfortunately. Personally would have kept Simms on rather than Wright.

Pleased we stopped the losing run and kept a clean sheet. Hoping MR sticks with a back 4 and can find the right blend for the front 3. Not sure I subscribe to the view we are close to giving someone a thrashing.

Didn’t think there was anything wrong with Eccles’ corners today.
They weren’t horrific but didn’t set me on fire either, and this is no slight on Eccles’ overall play as I thought he played well today but I just wonder if someone else could take corners, maybe whip them in a bit more, to me his corners rarely ever seem to cause chaos in the box.

Definitely think we should stick with this formation, we looked in general a lot more comfortable today.

When O'Hare's fully up to speed, swap him for Godden and play as a false 9. Then in January by an Allen replacement, hopefully someone in the Hamer mould, and I think we'll have the makings of a good team.

Andy turner is literally bonkers

TATSUHIRO SAKAMOTO (70 mins, for Simms): 4.5

Deployed on the right of the front three but struggled to make the desired impact.

CALLUM O’HARE (70 mins, for Allen): 5.5

Lively and busy in the final third where he continues to find his touch after such a long time out.

And he only gave Collins and Kitchen 6.5. I know it's only half a mark but they were both 7's.

Sakamoto had eight touches in 25 minutes - he was a complete passenger

O'Hare only had 12 touches and 3 of them were miscontrol/unsuccessful touch's. However Saka was excellent off the ball worked his nuts off.

O'Hare looked miles off the pace. The scores should have been the other way around.

Those markings are harsh but neither had much impact. As you say Sakamoto was better than O'Hare though, who looks some way off the player he was so far. Not surprising at all at this stage but it will be some time until we know whether he will be as good as pee injuries.

Decent performance against a decent side, did enough to win it but clean sheet and pt is ok outcome.

Bidwell 8.5
Eccles 8
Collins 7.5 looked solid

Rest 6 or 7s

The finishing and decision making is still off and that is the whole team this falls on. But we have 2 weeks on the training ground to work on it as well as getting Palmer and Fadz back in the group. Its also important O hare gets more work in his legs with the ball.

Positives
Collins - His kicking is way better than Wilson's and seems calm with the ball at his feet. His punch from the corner was excellent, but didn't really have serious shots to save.
Eccles - Everywhere. Great battling performance
Bidwell - We always knew he was a LB, and he showed it today. Solid, and got forward well.
Kitching & Thomas - Looked a good partnership.

Negatives
Strikers - Simms has to be through the middle for me, with Godden as backup. Thought Wright was alright yesterday to be honest, but going forward I would like to see Sakamoto / Tavarres as a wide forward.
O'Hare- Way off at the moment. Won't see the best of him before the New Year I wouldn't think.
For all the comments about us looking better yesterday, we didn't score a goal.

Agree with all the positives, but not all of the negatives.

I suspect if it wasn't for his injury Tavares may be gone already but anyone who thinks he will come in and hit the ground running is very optimistic
