He's getting the chances, ergo there is nothing wrong with his all round game, he'll start finishing at some point. Just give it a rest for 5 minutes.

It's funny. When he was following up on Godden's miss v Preston he still got pelters, flip the script today & it's "thank god for Godden, good job he was there" etc etc. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Good half of football, this formation makes us look so much better and a lot more exciting to watch. Should have had a penalty for the push on Wright, and their lad (Saville?) is lucky to still be on the pitch.

Even Collins doing simple things like claiming a couple of crosses (to my count) feels like an improvement. I like Wilson but I feel like some of the fundamentals that you expect of any decent GK went missing

Really like that Saka and MvE combo on the right. Sorry Ellis looks like you’re out for a while on this display.

Very happy with that half, we look so much better in this system. Has to be this going forward now.

Collins fills me with confidence, midfield 3 have been good so far (bar Eccles' corners), Saka is destroying them on the right, Wright is giving them something to think about and Godden has scored.

It’s a witch hunt now. He has to score a hattrick every game and have a 100% pass completion rate for the clueless weirdos on here
Should have gone to specsavers, everyone can see he has something but in very limited amounts. He is struggling to control the ball, pass the ball and finish apart from that he's great

If we can make a few better passes on the counter we will score a few more. each time we hit them on the counter we keep having the key pass intercepted

The formation is undoubtedly helping but it's more the willingness to forego possession & play quick, counterattacking football that's doing it for me. It's no surprise the likes of Wright look much more at home in this style.

Can't see us adding to that goal.
Appalling 'finishing' from Wright, well let's be honest - the guy just can't finish.
Guess it's gonna be a case of tighten your seatbelts for the second half.

Birmingham have just dropped below us ..

That eustace sacking was genius
We until now had an identical record I think (since super star Wayne took over.

Shocking decisions from the yanks.

Their netflix doc will watch like some sort of Greek tragedy.

Also: 34% possession.

Possession based football is for the birds.
Yes & no imo. In the short term certainly.

MR's argument (and backed up by the stats) is that it's the possession based teams that have more sustainable long-term runs at promotion. The problem is you have to be incredibly well drilled & have the players comfortable with doing it. Whilst we have upgraded the quality I'm not convinced we're there yet. Trying to run before we can walk if you like.

Some very solid individual performances. Sakamota gives us something that we miss without him. The ability to scare the life out of opponents when running with the ball. Just hope we keep playing the same way second half. So much better with Bidwell as well. Collins looks like he has some quality in all areas - aerial, shot stopping and distribution. Looks very composed too.

Ok so the millwall lad did push wright in the back slightly , but he still just hit it straight at the keeper. I’m sticking with absolute donkey

I don’t think we have the quality in midfield to break teams down. Until we do IMO counter attack is best.

Great half. Hopefully we've finally found our identity. Must hold on now!

Also, regardless of general philosophy counter attacking against this Millwall team is definitely the way.

100%, as I've posted before the 5-6 games we've dominated possession 60%+ we have lost. Yet every game we have won, the opposition have had more possession than us. We are, and have been for a while a counter attacking side.
