We probably do have 10-15 million but I'd suggest the owner might need a bit of convincing Robins is the one to spend it all atm. Rightly so in my opinion, I'd want to be very sure before parting with that.

Robins has done infinitely more to show he can be trusted to buy players than King has that he can choose managers.

If King no longer trusts MR to spend then he should sack him now.

Half of Robins signings have been from Chelsea youth team. I'd guess out of 50 signings - 10 have been a success.

And yet he’s taken us from L2 to the brink of the Prem. Whereas Doug has shown that he understands about as much about football as my missus.

Not much different to finding someone to manage any of your other businesses really. Look at the CV, the career trajectory, see how they come across in an interview... all managerial appointments come with a risk.

But it's not possible that a new manager could be any better, he's 100% going to fail........

I'm sure there are a good handful of managers that could do some serious damage with this squad plus 10-15 million extra investment. Maybe Robins is one of them but I think King will what to see more from the players he's spent big on already. Simms is sat on the bench behind Godden ffs.

Robins was recruited as a manager in League 2 for a reason. I'm not saying sack him, but there's 100% a manager out there, within our range, that would be getting more out of this squad.

Less than 7.34 million euros. Our wage bill will have increased a decent amount I would have thought.
From bottom 3 to top 6, is that sustainable without immediate success?

Completely agree @Greggs

Plenty out there could be doing a better job

it’s the classic ‘who would we get’

I honestly think we’d get someone who’d do better with this squad

That was my old man’s arguement @TomRad85

how appetizing/attracting would it be for a new manager to have the January window (even the summer) and that 10 million or so, but as said, think robins deserves 2 more windows at least

And yet we had twenty years of garbage before he turned up.

It took Robins two attempts to build what became the team taken apart over the summer. First go we got Brown, Ogogo, Crap Chaplin, Hiwula, etc. Then we got Fadz, O’Hare, Godden in and the rest is history.

He’s earned at least next season before you even think about replacing him.

Don't think we'll spend in Jan. Certainly not the money people expect.
An experienced player of the Matty James type probably on a short term contract and a couple of top quality loans is what we need.

Geniuses in this thread suggesting there might be managers out there who could do better than 17th after spending £20m.

We’ve obviously underperformed. But our form since changing to 4 at the back has been good, and with his track record he doesn’t deserve to be written off after less than half a season.

Personally, I am a bit concerned that King is running the club with zero experience in football. I'd have thought he'd bring in someone to run it for him/advise him.
Big Dave is still around

Championship wise we’ve tried the journeyman manager route. Remember Coleman, Dowie, Boothroyd etc etc. None a patch on Robins

So which is it? One minute it's the players aren't good enough for this league and the next, there's plenty out there who could be doing a better job.

So are we saying a new manager could do much better with a substandard squad?

This is my worry with King that whenever the time comes to look for a new manager, as someone with little football knowledge he ends up hiring someone on name only. Probably some fucking dinosaur journeyman, like you say, just because they had one good job 15 years ago. And we end up on a merry go round of shite.

This is why the stability of Robins is so vital.

I actually think it’s more the manager at present, although players obviously should take responsibility too

I think we should be doing better with what we have, for a start play simms up top he’ll score goals given a consistent run

Whatever we have left Robins cannot be trusted to spend it. That’s the truth, not one signing has been better than average and most have been poor. The team has gone backwards and we’ve now missed a massive opportunity, the support has been unreal but it won’t last past this season.

If he can’t be trusted to spend anymore he has to be sacked on your logic?

agreed doubt we’ll get 19k next year STH

Very fair point tbh, I’m neither pro-Robins or anti-Robins, my concern is that we’d end up with a manager that’s not any better than Robins, I’m sure there’s some decent managers out there but just not sure who we’d get. I’d hate us to do a Birmingham, sack a decent, loyal manager and get in some shit Z-list manager just because it’s a flashy move.

But I do have a worry that at times it looks like Robins is out of ideas. Personally, I’d wait until after January window, see how we do, if we’re still flailing around then probably we could look to get in someone else. I do think we’ll be alright though, just need that extra signing through the door and then to send Ayari back to Brighton.

Then you'd have the potential problem spending the remainder to get around?
