Why we didn’t buy him in the summer is beyond me, especially when he apparently had a £2m release clause

Maybe we tried? He may have been aware of the interest from other clubs. You just never know. One thing I do know - we ought to get the name of Barnsley’s head scout!

At least TeamTalk does away with the hanging on the phone for 10 minutes while they try ve-ry slow-ly to build up the hype for their piece of bullshit.

That’s not avoiding risk though is it? That’s taking a risk for greed.

Greed 😂

It's not greed, it's a short career for a footballer, you talk about him going to regret it if he gets injured before Jan. What if he gets a career ending injury after signing an extension as opposed to on triple the wage at a premier League/top championship club?

It's greed if we are offering a massive whack but at the moment we have offered fuck all.

They don’t get taken out back and shot when they retire! They have another 30 years of work ahead of them 🤣

Just that no contract has been offered and O’Hare wants to stay. Claims from the horses mouth. Take it all with a pinch of salt. Few other things that line up with what saddlebrains has been saying. I’m withholding judgement for now.
I’m in the camp that thinks O’Hare wants to stay (as long as big wage increase is met) bit like Hamer.

didn’t he say himself that he can’t sign anything if it isn’t put in front of him

I would imagine he would say he wants to stay. He can then compare offer A with B and C and choose. He’s not daft enough to say he wants out - why would he.

Maybe he wants to enjoy is his life when he finishes playing? If i was him I'd leave to earn as much as possible and then retire. It's not greed it's called maximising his earnings. He's hardly going to be a pundit after is he!

Could well be the case mate, I was told unless hes top earner he wont be here. Hence why no contracts been offered yet, but could have changed since then, this was a few weeks back

I’d imagine he wants to be close to the top earner (I believe Haji is upwards of 20k per week). Depends whether the club want to take a risk. A lot of people tend to do an ACL twice…

Both could be true. “He wants to stay (as long as he’s top earner)”

TBF another couple of games like the last one and he’s justified in asking for it.
That might hit the nail on the head, as in Doug wants to see him put a string of performances together over 90 minutes before commiting to another high earner on £20+ grand a week.
He may of had his fingers burnt with Wright and Simms and won't want to get burnt again if O'hare turns out to be another Jodi Jones.

Not that surprised we haven't offered a contract yet. I mean, he wants to get back to the top level, we do, and until he starts playing regularly again, how could we tell where to pitch a contract anyway?

Come January we ought to know!

I think the club sent the feelers out to see what he was looking for and to let the agent know what a ball park figure they were thinking of. From this i heard it wasn't acceptable and were told not even close to what the player wants. He will get himself fit and i imagine the club will come back to test the water.

If they agree to that i think big chance he stays but as said it will need to be more then the top earner

Tricky scenario for the club. Don’t offer O Hare what he wants and he goes for free or massively reduced sum OR offer him what he wants on a 3 or 4 year deal and then his knee pops again. If he had a year left it would give the club time to see how his body copes but with his contract nearing an end it’s stick or twist

Wait until we have played Sunderland away. The way that Ballard and O'Nien tackle, I'd make any offer straight after that game if Cal has come through unscathed (that tackle by Ballard on Maja at the weekend was disgraceful - how he never got a red for that, I'll never know)

Frankly unless he’s regressed or breaks down I’d offer him a deal after the Swansea game. But I’d also make it clear that’s what we’re doing so he doesn’t think we’ve just forgotten about him. A fit and firing O’Hare is easily one of our top players.

I do remember a CoH interview earlier this season when he said (paraphrasing) that he wasn't interested in signing anything until he was over his injury and back in the team (not squad) regularly. He's only just getting back and admitted on Friday after the game that he still wasn't 100% so I would say that his focus is on getting fit and letting his agent earn his money.

Another one I really wanted us to go after in the summer, even if they wanted £3m at his age, also being English we would have easily turned that to profit later on

fuck me teamtalk are really bad

written 6 days after he had to under go a pretty serious operation that will seem out for most of the season

also the article says he has not left foot and should really keep playing at league 1 level

It isn't that simple though is it? Yes the continuous moaning from some quarters is tedious but just because we have won a couple of matches recently it doesn't mean everything has been brilliant and all the signings have been a success. There is no guarantee that any of the signings will prove to be good long term or of gradual improvement. The most likely thing is some will prove to be good and some not.

Also plenty of clubs have had success with lots of changes, like Forest for example. There is more than one way to succeed and sticking to particular model too rigidly seems unnecessarily restricted.

Lots of people think the owner at Nottingham Forest is bringing in too many players and hindering Cooper by not giving the players time to gel?

Lst season Forest stayed up on form after Christmas.

I've been told Wright is looking to head back to Turkey in January, possibly Fenerbache. Has our inside man heard anything? Its come from a completely unreliable source, so take it with a pinch of salt.

I mean this has been all over the rumour sites a couple of months ago.
