Well, you've set your own bar with this statement. Make sure to take extra care when crossing a road in any of the above mentioned.
Maybe avoid (tinned) salmon mousse on the menu if visiting also.

Wrexham has no cathedral, is just a largish town population of 62k (wider County 135k) was given City status last year. Nothing to with with the band waggoning Tory populism though ...... (Mad Nad Culture Secretary made the announcements/decisions.....) nuff said!

The song was inspired by lyrics written on a toilet door in the Colly.

This explanation sums it up:

The chorus, "We'll live and die in these towns, don't let it drag you down now," reflects a determination to persevere despite the limitations and drawbacks of their environment. It serves as a rallying cry to not allow the negativity and hardships of their circumstances to weigh them down.

It's as Coventry as it gets.

Exactly. That's the sentiment behind it. It's about this country's forgotten places and those who overcome the challenges those environments create. People taking the 'town' reference so literally is weird. It's a great anthem that fits Coventry perfectly. Love that we have adopted it.

A bit too much analysis for the average footy fan tbh. It's either a decent song to sing with a catchy tune or it's not. Seems to me most people sing " We'll live and die....we"ll live and die in these towns " ........
then there a break and it goes again but most people don't know the words .

Perhaps the club should stick the words on the scoreboard.

I never really liked the enemy.....I've seen better Jam tribute acts down my local....

BUT as others have said, its a cov band & its a good shouty chorus.....I even learned a few more lyrics last Friday.....

It'll do for me....for now....

Far Far more 2-Tone still required at the matchday experience......and life in general....

Rave on.

Apologies if they've been printed elsewhere on here:

You spend your time in smoky rooms
Where haggled old women with cheap perfume say
"It never happens for people like us, you know"
Well, nothing ever happened on its own
And while the toilet smells of desperation
The streets all echo of aggravation
And you wonder why you can't get no sleep
When you've got nothing to do, and you've got nothing to eat
Your life's slipping and sliding right out of view
And there's absolutely nothing that you can do (well)

We'll live and die
We'll live and die in these towns
Don't let it drag you down
Don't let it drag you down, now
We'll live and die
We'll live and die in these towns
Don't let it drag you down
Don't let it drag you down, now

How's about this. I've changed the words a bit:

This town, is coming like a ghost town
Bands won't play no more
Too much wanking on the dance floor.

I thought Coventry was a city not a town when the original was written. Presumably Greggs was deeply offended at the time.
Nah, I like The Specials, nothing like those spotty little cunts The Enemy. Even though Terry Hall was a Man U fan..... you do you though pal.

It's odd how everyone in Cov ( me included) says " going up the town" when we go into broadgate . Well we used to in the 1970s when I lived there.
