I think the majority of them would get other league 1 clubs i.e Elliott, Jennings, Barton etc. clubs I concede that out of the 9 permanent signings on the showing so far I would say Fleck would be the only one that would make it into a decent top half league 1 team

Exactly. Having had the chance to sign so many players we blew it big time. Two French centre halves who are never going to compete in this league, a player who has had 2 career threatening injuries, a very average unfit midfielder,, a forward with a mediocre scoring record and we are suppose to be happy. Well I'm not.

Now Robins is stuck with players, I believe can achieve a lot more, but don't seem to want to play for him.

What is that supposed to mean!

You get the impression Robins wouldnt have signed them if he had his choice.
I get the impression that they are not busting a gut for him.
I think he is a no nonense manager and I think the players will know if he fancies them or not. However despite not been too keen on them he is forced to pick them.

With AT he signed them so they know he rates them.

MR signed his boys and they went straight in the team are these signings that much better than what was there?.

Robins thinks these players have a losing mentally and they know that.

I think Robins is a good manager, however maybe he needs his own signings to do the business.

Should we have waited till ten games to see if these lot would play under AT?

At any point this season so far have we played aswell as the 45 mins against Bury?

Think that pretty much every team that Bury have played this season have been saying:

"At any point this season so far have we played as well as the 90 mins against Bury?"

Making out that we have a team of League One promotion chasers based on the first half against Bury is taking extrapolation and stretching it to within an inch of it's life.

Yes I was just thinking about that tbf.

Big match live on telly, demonstration of what these players, are capable of. makes it even more frustrating.

In the same way that beating Man United away a few years ago in the cup didn't make us the best team in Europe, beating a poor Birmingham side in the same cup didn't make us League One contenders.

There was a bit more to it. We also drew with a team who are now undefeated this season, who are the favourites to go up.

We also drew our first game away to a team that have handed out several spankings since.

So really by that point we had, had one very dissapointing 45 mins followering a very good 45 minutes.

Blackburn beat ManU at Old Trafford last season.....that proves they should have pipped them to the title instead of Man City.

It was along the lines if beaten two nill at Coventry.
Great, they lift their game when we come to town and play like Brazil. Why don't they do it every week.

He basically infers that, that is the difference between players at the likes of cov and man utd, mentality.

Top players have that attitude week in week out.

why, what did it say?

We are in suspense. I suspect it says Fergie was about to be sacked then asked a journeyman defender what formation to play in the next game. He said "diamond" and the rest is history.

The relevance is, what u saw against Birmingham was the players lifting their game because they were on telly.

When other than the 45 mins against Bury have you seen these players, playing to their potential in the routine league matches come on dufster keep up......

Does it occur to you that Bury were absolutely woeful first half against us and that flattered our performance and that Birmingham also performed poorly and were at the time on a dire run which looked as if it was going to cost Lee Clarke his job?

Your reading too much into 135 mins of football and ignoring the other 1,575 minutes of dire football we've played this season.

Yes it is not possible that we played well the opposition were poor.

All good signings by thorn were recommended.

All bad ones were his own.............

CHRISTOS ON A BIKE !!!!!!
He's gone, get over it/him/yourselves. Why the **** are we still having anti-Thorne debates 6 pages long. We get it, you hate him, you think he was the worst manager ever, you think he was a crap scout and brought in the worst bunch of players we have ever had and all the good players in recent years were brought in by anyone else but Thorn. We get it that everything that was ever wrong with our club in the previous 100+ years and for the next 100+ years into the future are/were/will be Thorn's fault. But he is gone, you know, no longer here, no longer involved, no more Thorn, GOT IT????? Like effin children that always have to have the last word - childish!
Talk about spoiling my day and my pleasure when I come on here and STILL have to see anti-Thorn rants.

GET OVER IT FFS !!!!

Let it go, you'll give yourself a heart-attack.
Stop bringing him up, he's gone now and he's not coming back.

No ones having an anti-thorn debate. There is one person on here who want let it go - oh and another one who thinks Fergie copies his tactics.

Grendel

Who made the Fergie comment?

Sky Blue John - oh and also another one on the same thread said the crowd were singing for thorn to come back and I will eat my words when they sack robins and bring him back to save us - like he did two years ago.

All rationale and reasoned arguments.

I never said that we didn't play well in those games, but that it was a combination of us playing well and them being poor, but you are holding those performances as an example that our players are higher in quality as proved by those performances.

Does that mean that Shrewbury and Brentford are much higher quality than us because one stuffed us and the other should have stuffed us? Or did we just perform poorly?

So to take that quote, the difference between Robbie Simpson and Nani is mental attitude...

Helps to explain why Keane is rubbish as a manager.

This is hilarious!! Perhaps the mentality goes when your older, as Kilbane would still be decent like Carrick?

I think keane may have been talking about Coventry city as a team as a whole, at the time. Hyped up motivated and good enough to beat man utd.

I think he is puzzled as to why they can lift their game an beat utd on that day.

He thinks the extra effort and commitment they put in against utd. Is what they should do week in week out. Like he did.

If you want to have a pop at him I am sure you could say telfer could be messi if he tried hard. It is a lazy pointless comment for you to say.

Coventry lifted their game against Birmingham and beat them. It gave you an insight what these players can do. If they are driven and motivated.

Beating Birmingham is not like the example you gave.
