Premier League say VAR in 2019/20 increased the percentage of correct key match decisions from 82% the previous season to 94%
As anyone that referees knows getting decisions correct is only one of a myriad of performance measures but clearly var improves key decisions and getting 85% of key decisions correct over half a season is pretty damn impressive but could be improved

Perception and cheating are the twin enemies that aren’t tackled by var or statistics

Just one quick case in point

Lad had a good u15 game Saturday morning nice pitch nice kids good competitive game no back chat and no comments really

He’d made clear quick decisions think people were quite impressed I was. He then gave a pull back on a striker, clear decision but it was a quick breakaway and he was some way from the incident. All accepted it given other decisions

Previous game he gave a free kick on the edge of the box right next to it ball and player at the same time as clear as the pull back. Coach went ape shit

Also on Twitter with a Leeds fan who claims ref was weak on Saturday we should have had yellows and they didn’t dive - perception hey

With the introduction of female referees for the first time in the Premier league, players need to be warned that they may get booked for the fouls they committed years ago that they had completely forgot about
"What was that for, ref?!"
"Well if you don't know I'm not telling you!"

Summerville diving all over the place and the ref letting him get away with it.
