Collins - 6
If he made a good save(s) in that mad scramble 2nd half, +1. Couldn't see from B4.

MvE - 7
Offered less going fwd 2nd half but so good defensively. Such a good signing for us.

Thomas - 7
One wobble 2nd half and a poor pass fwd or two 1st half but he did his job well today.

Kitching - 6
-1 for getting into a dumb situation at the end. Add +1 if footage shows he did nowt.

Bidwell - 6
Didn't look totally at it today. Still think he starts if fit. Want a bit more from my LB.

Eccles - 6
Too indecisive in attack today. Plays more like Sheaf in the middle 3rd than I realised.

Latibeaudiere - 6
Decent, good option in case of emergencies but not an answer in the middle at all.

O'Hare - 7
If a few things had come off - esp. between him and Wright - he'd have been MOTM.

Wright - 7
Faded 2nd half but consistently a good outlet, an assist, and links up well with COH.

Godden - 5
Pressed well. We don't play to his strengths in this system but still offered very little.

Sakamoto - 9
Extra mark for the 2nd goal. Great finish. Like MvE, didn't offer as much 2nd half.

Subs:

Simms - na
No time to judge. Should start on Fri.

Palmer - 7
A bit rusty but great option. Looks fit.

Da Silva - 7
Looked sharp. Helped move us fwd.
Was so impressed with some of Thomas passes into feet and by the control at pace from Ohare wright and especially saka

Superb: Sakamoto: although he should cut in less, and take his man on more
Good: Kitching and Thomas
Bang Average: Collins, Van Ewik, Eccles O'Hare, Wright, Lati
Poor: Bidwell, Godden

Lets face it bar one sublime piece of finishing in the 89th minute this was a bang average performance against a unimaginative and poor team. The midfield barely functioned; just not quick enough of thought. Eccles (much as I like him) is not up to being the main man yet, O'Hare was anonymous, Lati too lumbering and slow, oh so slow.

Once SW had cottoned on that 90% of the time we pass from the back, they pressed forward (not unreasonably) and there was no plan B - outcome is Collins ends up hoofing out for a corner.

Typical of this curates egg of a performance were van Ewik and Wright both whom were good when they were good and at other times frustratingly really bad.

Our saving grace was that SW were bereft of ideas (even Bannon) and aimless crosses are meat and drink for Th & K.

Thank God for Sakamoto

Godden made some decent runs, some weren’t seen, never stopped harrying the opposition but was largely ineffective

Wright got one assist, but was generally useless for the rest of the game. He has been improving recently with his general level of effort and willingness, but today was absolutely useless for 95% of the match.

Absolute horseshit, him and Saka first half were really good . He tired noticeably second half and isn't as effective playing centrally

I agree with Saka, he was absolutely class today. 2 goals, dangerous every time he got the ball, fantastic first touch, can beat a player, tracks back, isn’t afraid to get stuck in despite his build, great range of passing with both feet. If only more players were like him

He’s quality.

Touch is naff though. Like weirdly bad.

He'll get double figures for goals and assists. Real nuisance for teams to defend against.

"Lati was good", dream on. Not quick enough of thought or good enough passer. The problems are in midfield
Lats did a great job defensively...but like Sheaf and Eccles is not progressive enough to see incisive passes. So frustrating when midfielders get the ball we are so slow to move it forward.

Great utility player to have...managers dream imo.

We were truly spoilt by Hamer.

I thought we had little clue how to break down a very poor team today. Surprised at the praise for Lati - would love to see his passing stats as it felt like he went backwards or sideways every single time. Whole team was slow and pedestrian with the ball over most of the pitch. From the starting XI I thought Thomas, Kitching and Saka were the only ones better than a 6 today.
Agreed, I thought we looked pretty out of ideas and were helped by 2 very good finishes

Also agree on Lati, his passing range is pretty limited and his speed of thought is too slow to be progressive enough with the ball. He’s ok as a stand-in but he shouldn’t really be starting in the midfield 3.

No point having a big squad if we can't chop and change . Wouldn't want to see Lati there to often, especially alongside a similar player in Eccles but he did a good job without being brilliant. Looks a fantastic lad to have in and around the squad and adds cover to a few positions
