Premier League loanees aren't always a surefire success, far from it actually. If the right one is available then I'm sure Robins is looking.
Ultimately good players come from all over, if there's a good young player in league 1 it's worth taking a look as they'll probably end up on the books of a Championship club as a much more valuable good young player. Also ownership of players is always preferable.

Yeah I get what you mean, and I too would want more permanent signings than loanees, but at the same time Hull have just brought in a Premier League player and we’ve so far brought no one extra in.

I’m not adverse to league 1 players but none of the current suggestions scream “game-changer”. I really hope we’re looking at the top end to pay the money for that one quality players rather than go cheap and get in a player that “could be” good. I’ve said it time and time again but if we want to be in the Prem then we’ve got to have a Prem-worthy team. No offence to the likes of Sheaf, Eccles, Allen etc, they’ve been good players for us, but that’s not a midfield that’s capable of making it in the Prem in my view. We just need that extra oomph in midfield, at times we look great but consistently, game after game, for the whole season we need to have a quality midfield and one that’s also ready for when serious injuries hit.

It’s weird isn’t it. All I can see is investment on both the playing and non-playing side.

Just a few loud voices that are pissed off that Doug upped the corporate prices (to market value) I reckon. Definitely seems personal as it's plain to see investment across all departments is up.

Then you have planks like Dawkins stirring the pot about how little the club is offering Gus and O'Hare. Got to be bollocks, the club will have budgets and know the value of players. Sadly we are still a Championship side so can't compete with premier league wages.

I've never bought the whole us not offering Gus what he wanted bollocks.
You have a player like Gus in your team, you give them the money unless they're asking for astronomical amounts or an amount that would upset the rest of the team.
The reality is we offered him a deal and he kept his options open which he's entitled to do, and at the end of the window Sheffield United came in for him and he chose premier league football and more than likely a sizeable amount more a week than we could offer, which is completely understandable.

I'm sure we've offered Cal a reasonable amount as everyone at the club is well aware how important he is to us. Now it's just down to whether a better offer comes from elsewhere.

Not unless it's a guaranteed purchase in the summer (maybe for FFP reasons.. no idea really?) No way they essentially send him on trial for half a season for us to see if he can cut it or not.
Someone check this posters ITK credentials please.

We can’t possibly have any ffp issues

I’m a bit disappointed we don’t seem to have had anyone lined up, it felt like Robins was left wanting in the summer.

I think we need 3 players in with any extra a bonus.

I’m sure one of our glorious ‘ITKs’ said that we had a midfield ready to sign as soon as the window opened…

To be honest if we got a number 8 and a prem loan for a bit of cover out wide I'd be happy enough.
More would be nice but I think the current team we have with a proper number 8 would be firmly play off quality.

Can't see how a number 8 / box to box midfielder would fit in our current shape . For me it would leave us very open defensively, especially with our full backs pushing on so high .
I feel we are lacking a deep lying playmaker , someone in the Carrick mould
We definitely need another wide forward/winger in

Would love to see us be bold this window but 3 new signings is very optimistic. I think we will be busy again in the summer however

We do need someone who can bloody pass the ball with an array of passing skills. Both Sheaf and Eccles don’t posses that and we need someone who can ping those balls about.

That's an area where Gus was very good at , he used to hit a lot of first time balls and put us on the front foot

I’d personally rather we didn’t sign Binks, Kitching is future captain material I can’t see Binks ever getting in over him and he won’t be cheap either.

Perhaps the change of system has changed who we are looking to sign

or how good O'Hare has looked, and Palmer being on it. Takes some pressure off goals from midfield. Latibeaudiere being a decent back up as well. Gives us time to find the ideal no. 8 now or in the summer. Do need a body in the middle now, though. If Sheaf or Eccles gets injured, I'd be worried.
