There’s nothing the club can do about banners on the M69 tho and while it’s shitty, I’m not sure is has the same affect as racist abuse at a game, which is aimed at discouraging an entire demographic from the sport.

It happens all over the country especially for local derbies.
Im not saying it’s the clubs responsibility or it’s the same as the Palmer incident, just that I wouldn’t have an issue if the person was banned from the stadium

Doesn't mean that severe punishment shouldn't be given out ASAP.
It's like anything in life. Let people get away with small things and they think they're untouchable. So they keep pushing the boundaries. It ends up rival supporters looking at a way of getting even. Then more innocent people unwillingly get involved.
It's coming towards the end of the road for me. It needs to stop. This means from fighting to racism and everything in-between. Prison time as the 1st option. People should be able to know they're safe going to football games. People should be safe from racial attacks. If the idiots knew they would go down the vast majority wouldn't do anything wrong. If they can't handle their drink they shouldn't drink.
If anything happens tonight I hope both sides walk off the pitch together. Arrest the offenders then decide if to continue or not. That would send out a massive message to the idiots.

They can't sue him, what part of right of admission reserved do you not understand?
They can let or not let in whoever they want as long as they do not break the Equality Act 2010.

Fair chance he’s a season ticket holder. They could have some control as to how he gets in.
people get banned from pubs. The owners have a right to refuse entry.

It is private property.
Wednesday can let whoever they want in or not as you have no right to be able to attend a football match.
The only way they could be sued is if they ban him based on one of the protected characteristics as set out in the Equality Act 2010.
Being accused of racism is not one of these.
Ergo Wednesday can deny entry.

This isn't even the first time in 8 months that our club has encountered this vile behaviour. It's almost as if we've forgotten.

It's like people don't acknowledge we have exactly the same people in our fanbase and these types exist in every fanbase.
I've heard racist comments at Rotherham away when they hammered us in our promotion season.
A friend told me that the bloke behind him at Wembley called Panzo something really unpleasant after his error at the play off final.
These people walk among us unfortunately.

agreed People were caught up in the stupid penalty miss. But i didn’t see anyone refer to colour or race on here. They would have been banned. The club addressed it.
People had different ways of channeling their angst. it certainly wasn’t on their radar to consider that twerps were posting racist hate on Twitter or other platforms.

Racism is disgusting, it's been happening for decades, especially in football. But ALL racism should be treated the same, not selectively.

I think people need to call it out. But if they do. What next? A knife, being surrounded by thugs? The Police don’t seem motivated to act. Surely technology can pick up exactly who does this.
it’s crazy to think that people still have racism in their dna. Education seems to have done little to get through to some people.
In some Workplaces it is trained and trained again. Everyone knows that if they take racism, homophobia etc into the workplace, they could be sacked.
It doesn’t mean people have to agree. I means that a standard is set. Any offenders need to be called out.

Was it ever proven it was city fans? The internet is a cesspit, especially places like Twitter. A lot of those messages which were public were from strange foreign accounts IIRC.
If it was people behind the goal then it would be the same thing.
(Edit, not that it's OK in either circumstance but when you have a video of somebody at the ground clearly doing it it's different to when you have a strange Twitter account doing it in terms of proof).

The club will have likely been involved as the police will have asked them who brought those tickets as a first point of investigation.

Our country is actually quite good compared to some.
plus Twitter is being used to destabilise the Uk. So these low level racist posts could be part of a bigger picture.

With technology nowadays there should be a much better way of reporting things at games.
I know every so often it will be "here's a number to text" but it would be so easy to have something where:
1. Fan can anonymously report racism, anti social behaviour at games. An app or something.
2. Goes direct to control room who can watch the CCTV on the spot
3. Radio to the closest response team and have them thrown out within a couple of minutes (or arrested).
Only issue is stuff like "this kid is kicking my chair" and the really petty crap and filtering it out.
If there's a bloke with his kids, he may not want to confront a group of blokes off their heads or pissed up.

If the club doesn’t have the ability, resources or willingness to identify someone who’s already been arrested for committing a racist crime inside their own stadium then they absolutely deserve to have the book thrown at them. There should be zero excuse.

I’m pretty sure that any commercial company can ban anyone from their premises without a court. If that person then enters the premises they can be immediately arrested for trespass. This is how shops deal with shoplifting. If under a certain amount the police don’t attend, but if you steal while trespassing it is then burglary. Might not get police attendance just for trespassing but they would already be there. So if SWFC want to serious they can be.

I must have missed that. Only saw the helicopter crash one and didn’t look too hard at that. That’s disgusting then and yes they should be banned.
All well and good, but as Palmer says, issuing statements has only taken us so far.

We had a game at West Brom in the late 70s. Albion had Regis, Cunningham and Batson playing for them at the time. Those players were subjected to Racist abuse from a large proportion of our ‘fans’ that night, including having bananas thrown at them.
If I am still around and following City then some of these characters will be too. Of those, some will have thought about their actions, realised how abhorrent they were and have changed. Some of them will see the world in exactly the same racist way but will have learnt to choose their moment in letting their views be seen and heard. They will also have had children who will have been influenced by their parents views. No doubt some of these attend our games too.
I don’t think the Wednesday fan base will be too different from our own. Unfortunately racism still exists in this country and I’m pretty certain it is as rife in Coventry as it is in Sheffield.
