I remember it. Just looked it up. May 01st 1980.
Not bad for a so called tinpot club.
Just watched it on YouTube, atmosphere sounded amazing Arsenal in the West End & Liverpool on the Kop, Highfield Road looked great & very much a worthy venue for such a game.
Shudder to think that only a year later they made it all seater, reduced the capacity by about 15,000 and completely ruined it.

I went with a mate, bought a couple of tickets outside the ground and stood on terracing in front of sky blue stand. I think there was just under 40,000 there.

That is the only area of Highfield Rd that I never watched a match from, nearest I got was the occasional last 5 - 10mins when leaving the seats above.

Totally agree, but it left very little time for anyone to plan it and ultimately I think the influence of the police stopped it as they couldn’t get organised in time. Ticketing and logistics was always a problem (especially if the replay was away from home) but we seemed to manage somehow. And it did make rematches very tasty!
As an aside, we’re probably only a few seasons away from the end of all replays in the cup competitions, the wind is definitely blowing in that direction.
Tickets were less of a problem then as it was standing and pay on the get at least up to the 5th round. Only 6th round I remember was SWFC away. Might be the only time we got there in my lifetime.

I watched a few games from sky blue stand terracing and could be a pain as I seem to remember the sun went over the main stand. I had a season ticket in every other stand in the ground over the years.

The 1998 cup run was great fun - sat in the Holte End for the famous win at Villa!
Still grates that we ended up losing to the Sheff Utd - watched the replay of that via a live screening in the East Stand!

I honestly think that Q/F loss to Sheffield Utd hurt me more than any other loss in my near 50 years following City, still rankles when I think about it 😣

That missed header from Moldavan, the corner for their goal that never was, I still feel like that. A semi v a shit Newcastle at Wembley beckoned

Queued for 9 hrs for the Cup game up at Everton. Got to the front of the queue only to be told the tickets have now sold out.
I must have been just ahead of you! A chap came past with a clicker thing counting people. He went a few people past me and stopped.

I agree that was hard to take and should never had happened. We were a very good team at the time. Sickening equaliser but should have done a whole lot better in match at Highfield road.
I have always though this had bad consequences on Coventry. If we had made the final, I'm sure we would never have got relegated 3 season later.

Went to that and got a ticket for the Kop where the Liverpool fans were I witnessed hundreds of scousers just sitting opposite the turnstiles obviously without tickets and the police opened up the gates rather than having them roaming the streets and they piled in, a regular occurrence at their many big games, a number of years later we all know what happened at Hillsborough, which to this day they deny.

What do they deny?

Agree with the above - I remember the 2-3 FA Cup defeat with Charlton (after being 2-0 up) completely knocked the stuffing out of us and we barely won a game for the rest of the season. And the we all know what happened the season after that.
Feck I remember that, I was in Delhi, ,thought it was in the bag had a few beers and then. My cousin who went to the game was so gutted ,he went straight to bed after the match lol

FA Cup round 5 draw
Dangerous to "count our chickens" before reply result.
Here is my take on draw possibilities.
So many people say
S#×t draw, so using that as yardstick.
Key * S#xt draw
** Very S#xt draw
☆ great draw

Watford or Southampton H * A **
Blackburn or Wrexham H ☆ A *
Bournemouth H ** A**
Wba or Wolves H * A **
Bristol C or Nottm F H * A *
Leicester H ** A **
Chelsea or Villa Can't say yet
Maidstone H ☆ A **
Liverpool or Norwich H * A **
Man City H * A **
Leeds or Plymouth H * A **
Luton H ☆ A **
Newport or Man Utd H ☆ A **
Brighton H * A **
Newcastle H ☆ A ☆

Totally prepared that many people will disagree with this!!!!

Has a rethink, all games are midweek, so any away game midweek apart from Villa is S#xt !!!

We should dig out the two tone kit and wear that … I’m sure it would be easy enough to add King of Shaves on to it …
