i thought trevor peake had a good point, when in commentary during the crawley game, he mentioned the visible 'wobble' in our performance when crawley got it back to 2-1,
that said it was good to see MR on the touchline urging positivity, and within minutes it was 3-1,
if we can keep 'switched on' for the 90+ i could see us putting a good run of results together

So ccfc4l,are you saying we havent been playing crap this season? Apart from the brum game, name a game where weve performed for 90 minutes. I cant.

no i did not say that and you know full well i did not say that

the quote confirms that you are 100% sure we will play crap so you are not taking it 1 game at a time at all.

Well I do say that because history has proved that.

No team has ever gone from bottom 4 to play-offs after 15 games in this division.

That tells me for any team to do that they have to be one hell of a good team and not just good but brilliant and by far and away the best team in the league from that point on.

It would be an achievement of biblical proportions.

I would say it is harder to get into the Prem. Remember Crystal palace 2003/2004?

On 21 December 2003, Dowie was appointed manager of Crystal Palace, inheriting a squad with low morale and occupying 19th place in Division One. However, under his leadership, the club went on an impressive run that included 17 wins from 23 games after he took over, until the end of the season, enabling the club to finish in sixth place in the First Division, just scraping into the play-off places. This feat was attributed to complete change in the atmosphere and training regime at the club, including a tougher disciplinary regime, introduced by Dowie. After beating Sunderland in the semi-final, on a penalty shootout, the club beat Dowie's former club West Ham by a single goal in the Final for a place in the FA Premier League.

If they could do it at the end of December with only 23 games left we can do it in an easier league with 30 games to go.

This.

We all know what it's like being a Cov fan, but some positivity never hurt. I looked at our next 3 fixtures before reading this post and realised we can win all 3.
Scunthorpe HOME
Hartlepool AWAY
Colchester AWAY

Scunny and Hartlepool are already below us, beat them and we're probably be above Colchester as well. Honestly, with a decent run of form we'll be up there and get a good winning mentality around the club. These aren't all the same players and staff that went through last year with a losing mentality so it shouldn't be that hard to shake.

We're not going to be stuck with boring shit and no success every year. Every club has their time, their moment, why not now. Why can't we do well. We're playing shit most of the time and still picking up results along the way.

Some logic applies to Goldie. We're so used to SISU pissed us off and letting us down that maybe they DO stump up the cash. SISU ain't selling, and maybe they'll realise we have a chance of achieving something with DG at the club. Promotion = money back and some change, which is all they're here for.

Positivity and stuff and things please.

Unfortunately, the better Goldie plays, the more goals he scores, the higher his valuation. Either SISU just won't pay the asking price or he'll be lured to a higher league club. Let's just utilise him while he's here and we can enjoy ourselves every time he dons the sky blue shirt. Meanwhile, let's just hope MR can find just as good a replacement.

The flip side to that argument is that there could well be some higher div manager with a few promising strikers who are on the fringe of the first team but who need a run of competitive games to bring them along. If they see how McG has blossomed under MR there could be a number of interesting loanees offered come January.

I was thinking that. MR could go to other teams and say "i'll get him scoring for us like i have McG, he will come back to you a far better/confident player".
After his years under Fergie maybe something could be done and we could get a proper player from them (unlike Brown).
If not, he can still try with other clubs.

He was a top striker himself so they might think he could help there best kids/fringe strikers come good.
All is not lost when/if McG goes (although i think he will) as if MR can sort Cody out also, get him to knock in a few then with what McG has done and Cody knocking a few in he has a lot of pull in showing other teams managers he could help them as much as they could help us.

We have only just got out the bottom 4 though haven't we after being there fore some time, so expecting a relegation battle is a lot more sensible thinking surely.

is it? we have a better squad than most of the league, the best striker(right now and for another 6-8 weeks at least) and an organsised tactile manager.

sensible opinion is that we will only be moving upwards.

Still not convinced by this better squad than most in the league. On paper maybe, but the game isn't played on paper.

The players have constantly and consistently underperformed this season. Just about every single game without fail.

Adam Barton looks a great player on paper, as does David Bell, but as I say ............

If we have such a good squad why haven't we already moved up then? Do you go to any games, cos your knowledge of football appears to be limited.

well we will see by the end of the season who knows more valiant wont we?

also are you dumb? sacked manager after 3 games, took 4 odd weeks to hire replacement and only now is MR turning the ship

and he IS turning it, look at the stats

we are in the process of moving up right now valiant to answer your silly question

otis, same applies to your question, you say you are impressed with MR but you seem to have no confidence in him or the team to do well

as i say..time will tell.

Just like you thought bothroyd would take us up eh? Your the one that's made yourself look dumb by putting up a stupid thread claiming we'll win 5 on the spin after 2 wins. You as normal, will end up with egg on your face.

no i havnt.

i said i was a fan of AB when he joined, he talked the talk and i would like to have seen him given longer, in hindsight i was correct. or did you like thorns reign?

and read my original post clearly,i state i am well aware we could lose the next game. all i have said is that its possible we can win 5 on the spin and get up the table.

you really do make this easy for me at times valiant.

Do you go? Are you a season ticket holder? Jeez we win 2 on the trot and the play off brigade come out the woodwork. No i didnt like thorn, didn't even want him.

so dont chat shit about AB so much perhaps then? he didnt have 1 full season lmao, you must now agree that i was correct to want him remain as manager at the time? thank you!

and playoff brigade coming out after 2 games? look back through my posts,i have been talking playoffs all season long, never waivered so yet another lie.

im not saying this out of blind optmism,i have already told you why i think we will be in the promotion mix,so rather than chat shit and get schooled on your every point you may aswell let it play out now.

Let bothroyd stay in charge and take us down you mean? You havent answered my question,do you go,have you a season ticket or are you an armchair expert? Playoffs, keep deluding yourself.

Think you and I think very differently, which is why I have a problem with your post.

After winning a game I would be wondering if we could win 2 on the trot and after winning 2 on the trot I would be wondering whether we could win 3. After winning 3 on the trot I would be wondering if we could win 4 and only after having won 4 would I even begin to think about the possibility of getting 5 wins on the bounce.

To my own mind, thinking about 5 on the trot after only winning 2, with a side that isn't playing well and has had over a decade of nothing but abject failure is just madness.

your missing my point,i am not saying we will win 5 on trot,i am saying its possible and what if we do,where can our season go from here

on paper we should win our next 3, on form even it can now be argued, it really isnt such a huge stretch to be confident going into these fixtures

i have clearly stated i am aware it might not happen, but it can and is a run of fixtures i have expected wins from since septemeber no matter how bad we got,so now lets see if we can do it.

i could be safe and say mid table but i would be lying,i beleive we will be in the promotion mix,i know my football and stand by that still.

valiant - i dont have a season ticket no, so far this season i have been to carlisle,mk dons, bournmouth, arsenal & crawley, caught stevenage game on telly too obviously.

not because of any AT boycott, just cos i was on honeymoon till early septemeber :)

as i say, this is not blind optiomism, just my long term thinking of the siuation

the point of this thread isnt 5 wins on trot neccesarily, its that we will move up the table and win alot more than we lose.

2 down 3 to go is just giving us a little barometer/goal for the short term.

No, get that, but i just can't even see it as a possibility and with good reason too.

1. We have known nothing but failure for over 10 years.

2. MR has said there is so much wrong at the club and there's lots of hard work to do.

3. MR has said it's going to take time to get things right.

4. We haven't been playing well all season. More often than not we have been second best.

5. No consistency from the players. McGoldrick is the only player to have been consistent. The only one.

Just can't see how we are going to go on any sort of brilliant run until all these things are addressed. We are heading in the right direction and I believe MR is the man we need, but as he has said in his own words, it's going to take time!

Hopefully it happens, obviously we all want it to happen.
But as things stand right now, we have been pretty poor all season and other than McGoldrick I see nothing to suggest a promotion push. Nothing at all.

Edit: I am confident in Robins though. If we had him in place in the summer it would be a different story.

I would argue.Wood, Mcgoldrick, Bailey, Murphy, since he has been playing Christie.
