On a rare visit back to cov, travelling down past gosford green and glanced down king richard street expecting to see our famous old stadium. brought a tear to my eye to see blocks of flats instead. It felt like a relative had died. Is there anything there that recognises where our old ground used to be? Couldn't bring myself to go and investigate in case it looked even worse close up....

There's a playground in the middle, with houses forming a square overlooking the playground, so it still has the familiar shape of a football ground in the middle. I did the Roof Trusses there, there was no plaque when I visited but it was a building site then.

We should have done what Arsenal did. Has anyone seen that? Quite amazing.

Unfortunately ours did'nt lend itself to that kind of treatment, just a load of Pre-stressed concrete + external Cladding + the differential between Capitol City and Decrepid city land prices

I went up there a few weeks ago as i was passing, new houses that already look 20 years old,the roads on where the pitch would of been are all crumbling, its a right dump. Represents the type of people you get there i suppose. I loved highfield road but i wouldn't want to go back now.

Not sure if arsenal own this but what a great idea if they do, more revenue forward thinking and not something we would expect to see in our city.

The thing is, I wonder how much they could sell those apartments for at HIghbury in London compared to Hillfields in Coventry?

Wasn't the main bit of Arsenals stand kept in tact as it's a listed building? That might be why that's still up and the rest of the development built around it.

Some of them go for around 400k for 4 bedroom in Highbury.

It's probably the same in Hillfields. Not cause the houses are nice. Most of that money will probably go on security.

Hillfields - if its nailed down, we'll take the nails too. :)
