I thought that he was a poor replacement initially when Gurney fell out with everyone and thought it best to move on, but Clive has surpassed him a long time ago and really now is the voice of the Sky Blues. It’s probably also helped that Linnell retired aswell.

Would he keep the gig if we got promoted or do the BBC put particular people on PL games? I know Gurney got moved after we dropped down and Wolves I think went up.

His commentary for Viks goal v Wigan was brilliant.
It was brilliant " He's having his shirt pulled.....he doesnt mind.......
He's better than Rob Gurney and when Rob was here years ago I thought he'd never be bettered.

Love his passion on commentary, think he's gotten way better in recent years. Thing that winds me up is the air time he gives to the bedwetters post game, or the completely inane ones that call for Robins' head after a win. They're clearly wums so why give them the air time? He also never ever ever criticises a ref or admits that they get things wrong. But other than that, he's great! 😂
Cos they're the only ones that call up. Though I'd prefer no phone-in than listen to a lot of them

Would genuinely love it if someone made a Clive soundboard for prank calls.

‘GROW UP’
‘SCRAMBLED AWAY’
‘Middlesbrough 1-0 Middlesbrough’

'STOPS AND CHECKS'
'IT'S DAN AGEYI NOW'
'OHHH EEEERRRRRR UMMM NOW! THE REFEREE IS GOING OVER HERE'
'BY CLOWN IN THE CAP I ASSUME THAT MEANS RUSSELL SLADE'

Then there can be a gasp of air being blown out and a click of the tongue.

‘Sorry who is this?’
‘IT’S VIKTOR GYÖKERES’
‘What’s going on?’
‘THEY’RE PULLING HIS SHIRT, HE DOESN’T CARE’
‘Ok I’m ending the call’
‘OH GROW UP’

Clive is a national treasure and we should appreciate his contribution to our beloved football club. Doesn't matter how shit your day is, if you can't make the game, listening to him commentate on one of our matches is almost homely. These audio clips do not dissapoint.
Took over the season after we got relegated from the premier league and will now have been to Wembley with us 4 times. He may not be the most accurate but his passion for a club he doesnt support is unrivalled.

What about Rotterdam by the Beautiful South?

"It could be Rotherham, or Altrincham,
Liverpool or Stoke
'Cause Clive, he just gets it wrong
But he's such a lovely bloke, such a lovely bloke"
This has just popped into my head:

It could be Haji Wright or Ellis Simms
Or even Sakamoto
Coz Haji Wright and Ellis Simms,
Score everywhere they goooooo
everywhere they go!

Will always be a big Clive fan, but what a pleasure it was listening to Ally McCoist on the ITV broadcast yesterday. Never usually bothered either way by commentators (I know it’s almost as important as the match itself for some people) but his easy enthusiasm for the game is just really nice!

I've listened to this again a few times just now and it's genuinely brilliant. Oggy losing his sh*t? Check. Clive working so hard not to just scream and celebrate? Check. A quote for the ages ("scoreline') amongst total mayhem? Check. An image of Kasey Palmer running full tilt to his mates from the bench? Check.

Take a bow, Clive.
