So full strength against Maidstone but rest players during the run-in?
I don’t get why you're so keen to fill the first team with 16/17 year olds. It didn't make sense against Maidstone nor will it in the final few matches because key players aren't available because of hamstring/ calf strains. Why not follow the advice of the fitness experts we employ to advise on the individual players fitness and use the squad appropriately to minimise injuries? We have a small squad and a lot of games. The last thing we need is a raft of unnecessary injuries.

King dropped the ball not paying the extra 750k for EMC as we could have done with him this run in, even if Sakamoto was fit, but with Sakamoto out, that looks a really brainless decision by King.

Was EMC not cup tied then ? Peterborough played in the first and second rounds didn't they.

Huh? I suggested we play one young player, against Maidstone United, so we could manage minutes before the crunch time at the end of the season. This shouldn’t be controversial.

I don’t recall it being one. Weren't you calling for widescale changes to the team for Maidstone?

No matter what playing our first choice players until they drop is not a sensible approach. We have to use the squad given how many games we have coming up.

I think I posted two different proposed teams for that game - your persistence on this is very odd if you genuinely can’t remember

You're the one who keeps bringing up Maidstone. I am saying it makes no sense to overplay individual players making it likely they will get injured and that we need to use the squad.
Well if you want to just make up more things I haven’t said, then clearly I can’t stop you

I mean you literally said the time for managing squad minutes has gone. However, we have eight matches in April so this is when we absolutely will need to manage minutes and rotate players.

We need to play our strongest possible lineup every game. That’s not the same as “overplaying individual players…until they drop”. It’s not any more complicated than that.

It’s an FA cup semi final. We’re 180 mins away from only the second major trophy win in the history of our club.

Anyone prioritising a championship game over than needs to give their head a wobble.

I mean the play offs are worthless unless you win them which as we know is not easy . Promotion v FA cup final is a totally different argument with a far easier answer

Never been so chill at this point in the season. Literally anything from here is a bonus. Just going to enjoy the football and see what happens. Can’t remember the last time I felt like that at Easter.
I'm the same. Its because I'm really looking forward to next season. Our squad belongs to us, don't think we'll sell anyone we don't want to sell. Add 3 or 4 more in the summer and we should be looking at a strong season from the start.

Agree - think we will be stronger next season and also believe the league will be weaker

i am concerned about Sheaf heading off in the summer though, take sheaf out and our MF looks light, fingers crossed for another gem if he does go!

Both, make sure recovery and rest is efficient inbetween and not train in between the games, there is no reason they cant give their all both games they do so every day almost in training so Im sure they can in 2 games with at least 48 hours of rest in between

It’ll be the hope that gets you

We’ve achieved what I hoped for at the start of the season. We’ve ended up with what looks a capable side that’s gelled to a good extent. Most of not all of the permanent signings have played a good role in the season and are looking good for next year. Our biggest worry is that an AM who can’t get in the side right now is off in the summer and we’ve got a Wembley trip. Season competed as far as I’m concerned.

If we win the next two I’ll ask you again

I’ll say the same. Even if we make playoffs I don’t expect us to win. I expected us deep down to beat Luton TBH. That was what hurt. This season the top four are miles off everyone else and Hull Norwich and WBA have hit form too. If we make it, let alone win the playoffs, it’ll be a massive overachievement bigger than beating Man Utd and Chelsea for me. Not Man City, they’re ridiculous. Beating them is see as less likely than us going on a run and getting automatic promotion let alone the playoffs.

Beating Man Utd is pretty fanciful in itself, particularly with nearly all their injured returning for it, but would be as good as winning the final itself for me.

However, whether we're objectively good enough or not, we should be going full throttle to get in and win the playoffs in any case.

Exactly!
Everyone bleating on about promotion this, playoffs that…if we won the FA Cup vs Man City at Wembley we’d all cry ourselves stupid for the rest of our lives.
I was in the ‘promotion first’ camp but winning the FA Cup as a Championship team would be an achievement up there with Leicester winning the league.

There’s always next year to have a go at promotion and an FA Cup winning team would be one of the favourites for promotion.

Also, I fancy a European tour with City…
