Callum O'Hare (37 Viewers)

controversial and unpopular opinion, but other than a decent spell shortly after coming back from his cruciate injury, COH as a player wasn’t anything special - he won a lot of free kicks but until recently that was about it, he weighed in with a few assists, and now he’s added a few goals over a few matches, but he’s definitely not irreplaceable and KP is definitely the player in form in that position….

The thing with O’Hare more than anything is his character and the way he gels the team, like a Paul Merson or Jimmy Bullard, and every successful team needs a few players like that
He was pivotal in driving us on to pick up crucial wins in January onwards.

The narrative is set

if he does well in the Semi Final it’s proof he hasn’t been trying and just wants to get noticed.

If he doesn’t he’s shite anyway

Where’s this creating nothing from? He helped create the winning goal in the game before last.

If the rumours are to be believed that O’Hare knows where he’s going then I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s taken his foot off the gas. Even if only subconsciously. Especially given his previous experience.

I’m still not convinced by Palmer. His actual goal involvements are very low.
IF COH has taken his foot off the gas (and I'm not convinced that's the case) then you'd think an a FA cup semi-final at Wembley against Man U would be enough for him to put his foot back to the floor.

Could it be that he’s just hit a bad run of form (surely to be expected after 10-11 months injured). Add to that Palmer playing the best football of his career.
I’d bet he still hasn’t decided what to do.

Been a few times people have talked nonsense about O'Hare, he's one of our best players! He's had a drop in form during the 5 at the back when he was playing alongside Palmer, wasn't his fault that didn't really work. Palmer has been fantastic for a long time now and his physicality is big plus, but O'Hare will come alive at Wembley in this system I'm sure of it

It’s more a combination of Palmer playing well and COH struggling for any form.

I like COH and Palmer but I think we can do better in that 10 position.

Struggling for form becuause his knees are are painful

I agree he needs to improve on this output. I also agree sometimes he over complicates things, and I feel he needs to concentrate on doing what is effective rather than the spectacular. However, if he gets that right we certainly have a Premier League quality player on our hands. Probably only Van Ewijk has as much talent.

Sheaf will probably be in the premier league next season

I boggles the mind that people are sharpening their knives for Callum now. The guy absolutely loves football, it's plain to see. If he's struggling for form (not sure I agree) it isn't for lack of trying, that's for sure.

He's been reduced to cameo appearances quite rightly because Palmer is playing well, this is a great situation for us to be in.

Of the big three he’s handled leaving the worst. He’d already agreed to go before his injury which sours people, then he lied to everyone claiming he doesn’t know if he’s got a contract (lmao), then he’s not even given us a chance to go up and keep him, then when he’s played he’s either looked selfish or uninterested.

The contrast with Vik and Gus is huge and it’s not surprising he gets treated differently TBH. That’s life.

Selfish and uninterested? What on earth are you talking about.

I've been a critic of Palmer but think he's playing well at the moment, probably the best we've seen from him since he's been here.

Also staying fit. Was wondering the other day whether being involved with the Jamaica side has kept him more ‘professional’ during international breaks, etc

He’s either been playing for himself (just before he got dropped) or pretty much anonymous when he has come on since he was dropped. Bar the Wolves game, but even then aside from the cross for the goal didn’t do much.

It’s understandable and probably not intentional, considering his history and contract status, but incomparable to Vik and Gus last season who ran through walls for us to the end.

Nine G+A in 24 games….if this is what “playing for himself” looks like, then he’s welcome to keep doing it for as long as we can keep him imo.

Sorry to say it but he is right 😪
Not the same player he was earlier in the season.
He’s creating and scoring goals at the highest rate of his career - even if he is “playing for himself” then it only benefits us. We’d be lucky to keep him, the attempts to vilify him now we’re pretty sure he’s off are just sad. “I never fancied her anyway” stuff.

What evidence have you got that he’s not been “professional “ previously?

Hamer lied about leaving when he’d decided to with ridiculous nonsense which he fed to people on here

Kind of a desperate argument really

Claiming his stats are outstanding is too. He’s not in the side for a reason. Anyone who has watched the games knows that reason. His purple patch doesn’t change that.

His stats (not to mention his abilities) are clearly very good, which is why there’s been a months-long auction for his services, even when he’s been suffering with fatigue after coming off an ACL injury and coming straight back into a good side.

You wanted to “fuck him off and continue with the rebuild” even before he really got going - we’d be nowhere near the playoffs if we had.

He’s our best player for my money.

Had a couple of games where he didn’t play well.

We’re good enough that it works without him as well, and if Robins is prioritising players and a side that will be here longer term then great. But let’s not pretend O’Hare warrants being benched based on performance/ability.

The auction as you call it is when he is available for free. How many would pay a fee for him?

Burnley would pre injury and his stats have improved since
