There’s a stronger case to tinker with the CM combinations than the strikers to be honest. We need someone in that area who carries the ball, puts more passes into the box and shoots more than Eccles and sheaf currently do.

I was impressed with Torp’s cameo v QPR and if he did that consistently for 90m, week in and week out, he could be the answer to a lot of issues we have. Unfortunately, that inconsistency in and between games is lacking atm.

Dasilva and Saka are curve ball suggestions as well. Dasilva ball retention is very good as is his link up around the box, and Saka seems to have a good eye for a pass with either foot but not sure if he’s too set as a wide player to come inside.

As CMs? They have some good traits but we seen what happened with Euros when England put TAA in midfield despite his some of attributes being v suited to the position. Positioning wise, all over the place and think that would happen to JDS and Sakamoto. Sakamoto did play AM v QPR when he came on and it wasn’t his best cameo.

I think Sakamoto thrives when he can pick off defenders in 1v1 situations, he won’t get as many opportunities to do that centrally.

You're all absolutely mad. Eccles is probably our best player this season, and was one of the best last season as well.

Rudoni is outperforming COH on these metrics this season and indeed last season too. Again, playing for a worse team in both seasons.

Is it really worth comparing metrics on two totally different types of player? O’Hare was a total menace to the opposition with his pressing and energy, and his enthusiasm would surely rub off on the players around him. He made things happen and there’s not many in our team doing that at the moment. He may have lost his way a bit towards the end of last season, but it looked to me that he was being frozen out by the club, and when he did play he looked frustrated. If we had perhaps made him feel more wanted then maybe he would have still be with us, and I don’t think we’d be in the position we are now if he was still playing for us.

Yes. It is worth it because the stats dispute your characterisation of COH. It was true in the seasons leading up to 22/23 but is no longer the case and is out of date.

Compare the stats with Rudoni and COH this season and you should understand why Sheff U fans are frustrated with him.

Yeah I agree on Saka. I think he wants to play down the line against his fullback.

Just worry about a formation that gives us no options in two key areas.

I agree but I think this game is calling out for a different approach. With 1 sitting player and 2 8/10 style players rather than a 6/8 in Eccles. Its calling out for something different like Rudi and Torp

Yes, you’re right that COH outperforms Rudoni on many of the attacking stats on a per 90 basis. This is true, however, COH played less games had a fantastic run of form that is and remains an outlier in his career which can skew the numbers. Particularly on a per 90m basis.

Something you have also factor in is that Rudoni played for a team that finished 23rd. Naturally, his team performances will impact many of those KPIs, to state the obvious, he’d have spent more time out of possession and getting the ball in less advanced positions. So the comparison is difficult because of COH being out for the start of the season and of course Rudoni playing for a horrific side.

24/25 is actually the best data set we have because both players have played similar games and minutes. Frankly, COH’s creative actions (and other things) isn’t great especially considering Sheff U’s position.
