McGOLDRICK v MARLON - who best for CCFC ?? (2 Viewers)

Divided camps here methinks

If the two became available now who would you realistically want for the progress and wellbeing of CCFC

DM for me

Silly question.

The only ones wantink King would be doing it to be different or cause an argument.

King, we're a league lower now so McG should do better.

However, if we got promoted and McG is in the team... It'll be interesting. I also think McG has potential to be a very good Championship striker, better than MK was for CCFC.

King... If he didn't have a bad name for himself here.

What are you on about, King is proven at Championship level and McGoldrick isn't? By stating that people wouldn't be hoping to cause an argument, it's a fact!! I personally would go with McGoldrick but it's pretty marginal, think King would score more but much prefer McGoldrick.

King is entering the twilight of his career whereas McGoldrick is still yet to peak-so you'd probably go with the latter for a long term option. However, if we were talking about the Marlon of a few years ago, the choice isn't so straightforward.

King is the far better player ability wise.

As a footballer King - as a human being McG
Come January neither will be here so really a spurious discussion but guess thats what forums are for

If this bloke can score a few goals, can we offer him £15,000 a week and chant his name?

She probably deserved it anyway.

After he's done his 'time' in prison, then why not? Either way, he's still a c**t.

king without a doubt. mcgoldrick has been excellent for us but king just had that explosiveness about him.

King as shown the better quality yet DMC still has time to improve, yet its hard to improve on his goal record this season

King is at the end of his best days, so talk of when he was at his best is irrelevant

Dmg for me ................but I won't hold my breath on him staying here

Have a look at the championship top scorers and you'll see King has bagged just one less than McGoldrick in the division above, in fact I believe he has scored 7 of their last 8 goals or something like that. Whilst I am a huge fan of McGoldrick, it would be nonsensical to choose him over King we were given the choice!

So a lot of you want to sign a 32 year old striker? He will be slowing down soon if not now. Lots of baggage as we know.

McG is 24.....25 in two days. He has years ahead of him. He can still improve. This season with us will have helped him as he is playing. MR has been helping his development it looks.

Are we after a quick fix or are we looking to the future and trying to build a squad that can take us up?

If I were given the money to sign either, McG. But the hread's question was who was better for CCFC. In that case, it would be MK.

At this level of football i'd take a quick fix and a squad that can get you promoted before other clubs strip your best assets away. I want the striker that would score the most goals for the remainder of this season and next season, and I believe that would be MK. MK was just as important to us as McG is now, but in the division above so it's a very logical decision.

But King will be 33 before the end of the season. We have a chance of going up this season. Only a chance though.

We will need to do well just to get into the playoffs. Then we have to beat two other teams still. If we failed we would then have a 33 year old striker as our main man. If we went with McG we would have a 25 year old striker. If we were near the top and we needed goals to get into the top 2 and stay there I might go for King. We need to plan for next season though. Reaching the playoffs would be a bonus after the start we had. Next season we should compete from the start.

I do miss the days when we were in the play-offs when King was playing for us and not struggling in the lower reaches of the Championship.

Try reading it again SBT :D

Fair enough, I didn't really take notice of the OP, just the title and I seem many people going for McG straight away, I got carried away. I apologise.

Also, why I assumed that it was who was better for CCFC is because it is a stupid question, MK a) wouldn't be available b) wouldn't want to come to us anyway c) we couldn't afford him d) why would he drop a league e) prob doesn't like the manager. Whereas McG is young, has an interest in coming here (prob will go to a better team though), at a push we cold just afford him, he isn't proven in Champ (may put off potential buyers), he likes our manager's system etc. oh, and most importantly, is actually available.

In terms of transfer, they are exact opposites.

King could well drop down to the level we are at now, but not until his present contract runs out. He missed out on time playing because of his extended holiday. He will lose out on his pace, so will drop down a level as he will still be able to do a job.

I don't want him back at our club. It is rare to find a player that goes back to a previous club and does well second time.
