I would bring him in preseason and see what his level of fitness is. If he cant get through then you know the answer, if he gets through, a year deal with an option could be all he gets and worth a risk in my opinion.
At 26 he still has a chance of doing something but this year is a big year for him as a pro i would of thought.

We know about his injuries, but on losing Cal , surely he was / is the nearest player to replace Cal , without costing anything but wages ? ( play & pay contract )
