They have huge fan bases but are no longer huge clubs.

Commercially and infrastructure wise they are more like Championship clubs.

if they were dropped into the Premier league next season they would almost certainly get relegated.

Leicester, Leeds / Saints would almost certainly finish higher than them both. If they could find away to stay in the league for 4 or 5 years they would become much more competitive but they are more likely to end up in the championship in that period.

Celtic have got a turnover of £119m without PL money and some of the additional sponsorship / commercial income it attracts. They would be top 5 commercially in the PL with PL money and way ahead of any Championship club minus parachute payments.

What sort of freaking perverts start debating the quality of two Scottish clubs in comparison to the Premier League/Championship on a thread about a potential signing?!

Joking aside, obviously a bit of a unknown signing. Look forward to seeing what he's all about on the pitch soon!

Yeh I think ultimately their main problem is attracting players to the league they play in.

On this new boy and the moaning, personally I'd be happy if the club pull off 4 or 5 signings like this. Just 2 of them come off and you're laughing. Also improves the quality of our 23s assuming they get some playing time there, which is much needed for the very small handful of decent 23s we do have.

Do you think he’s the back up right winger?

Or is he third choice in numerous positions across the front?

develop Raphael and then sign another loan there imo

Kinda backup backup would be my guess. I'd think they'd stick EMC out on the right if needed first but if he's already on the pitch on the left then we could well see Rodrigues coming on already. Not sure tbh but I guess that's around where he'd be considered atm.

Depending on his attributes he could be developed into a wing back over time. I think the club have highlighted his athletism and think they can mold him into a very good player, who can adapt to multiple roles within the system.

My expectations are low given where he’s joining from, but young attacking signings are always welcome, and hopefully he’s a hidden gem.

They would not even be in the top 10 and light years behind the top 6.

Leicester had revenue of £280m in their last year in the Premier League.

Silly talk .... Celtic would be massive, and attract new money into the club whether it's American or Arab money , who knows ?? ...
Infection I'd go further ...
If Wimbledon had got their own way and franchised to Dublin as the Dublin Don's...they'd have been very big by now also ...

Celtics commercial revenue is the 20th highest in European football

What I would say though is Their ownership are much lower in terms of financial power around the 14th highest in the Premier league

In terms of revenue including premier league money they'd be around here Screenshot_20240524_141818_Chrome.jpg

I do think some people overestimate how big their support is worldwide though .. they have less social media followers than sunderland and Leeds and up until their stadium redevelopment in the 90s were getting very poor crowds generally .. their support is massively overstated and are nowhere near England's elite clubs in terms of size

It's similar to saying benfica have the best support in the world because they speak Portuguese in Brazil

Doesn't seem like a bad signing on the face of it, doubt we'll see a lot of him for the first season, probably be used as 3rd choice for either wing spots. Will be interesting to see how we see games out. Bring on this lad and Tavares against tired legs could prove fruitful.

Where's the rumour come from @WestEndAgro

Wouldn't mind a trip up to Ibrox.
I read it somewhere, can't recall, don't know if it's definitely happening.
edit
Just read Ibrox will not host any pre-season friendlies due to work being carried out on the Copeland Road stand.

Looks like he's a good ball carrier then which is something we're definitely missing.

And I'll echo what most others are saying - give the lad a chance ffs!

He’s clearly been brought in to add depth. I don’t know why you’re getting so defensive about this. You’re normally a good, balanced poster
Surely actually being able to interpret stats rather than just assuming numbers = good says the opposite 🧐
