Don’t agree with the other post at all but this isn’t exactly a great rebuttalWe nearly signed a €9m Argentine winger literally 4 months ago.
Oh yeh I know, it was all overhyped on this forum, like Stoke, as always. But should never have been relegated.Without referring to the relevant threads, there quite a few people saying how well they’d done and they’d be competing for playoffs and so on.
Personally felt a lot of their signings were ‘mid’ considering the sums of money they’d spent. The management situation didn’t help but had their recruitment been that good they shouldn’t have been in the mix really.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough that my second statement was not predominantly related to McCallum, notwithstanding that I am disappointed he isn't joining. Are you serious?
On reflection your right. Bring back Sisu !Maybe I wasn't clear enough that my second statement was not predominantly related to McCallum, notwithstanding that I am disappointed he isn't joining.
My doubts are based on:
1. Going from losing the play offs on penalties last season to 9 points off the play offs
2. One point from the last five games, including getting hammered by a poor Birmingham team
3. These things happening because of lack of squad depth,, despite Robins seeming to say this would happen in January if we didn’t add players
4. A perception that transfers are focused on potential resale values rather than developing a balanced team, which includes experience, not just potential
5. An apparent aversion to loans, which is the most realistic way that we can add top quality to the team.
Wow. Were you around when we were in league 2 ?Maybe I wasn't clear enough that my second statement was not predominantly related to McCallum, notwithstanding that I am disappointed he isn't joining.

Could be that we're looking at James Beadle on loan from Brighton.Nixon Cov story tomorrow
Would be a great signing though I'd prefer if we had a permanent keeper.Could be that we're looking at James Beadle on loan from Brighton.
Ironically I’m sure we got a few signings in early that season. Didn’t McNulty sign at the end of May?Wow. Were you around when we were in league 2 ?
Heard we are after some player from Ecuador called Paez what’s he likeWould be a great signing though I'd prefer if we had a permanent keeper.

The one who's already signed for Chelsea?Heard we are after some player from Ecuador called Paez what’s he like
There is a player of that name and nationality joining Chelsea in 2025. He is very good by all accounts and if we are paying a sum to facilitate his early arrival to English football it would be an exciting signing and might work out well for the lad too in his quest to be a top player in the EPL.Heard we are after some player from Ecuador called Paez what’s he like
Fucking hellReally disappointed about McCallum. I think he is an excellent player with great potential.
Of course it's early days in the summer and I am not normally a negative person but I can't deny I do have nagging doubts about the direction of the club.
What do we reckon? Sheaf off to West Ham for £5 and a packet of twigletsNixon Cov story tomorrow
He literally can't join until 2025 because he's still only 17. Almost certainlyWhat do we reckon? Sheaf off to West Ham for £5 and a packet of twiglets
Bali Mumba anyone
Suspect this will be the Nixon storyCould be that we're looking at James Beadle on loan from Brighton.
Again, would be nice, but based on what? Has something come out linking him with us that I'm missing?Suspect this will be the Nixon story
Quavers I heard. What do we reckon? Sheaf off to West Ham for £5 and a packet of twiglets
Boring if that's all it is. No way he goes there. Those interested in what Nixon says...
Luton reading a bid this week for Sheaf. He says they will need to spend over £10m of their parachute payments.
If true, he won’t be interested and it’d take more than that anyway. Those interested in what Nixon says...

Almost certainly leaked by his agent to flush out whether there is Premier league interest at that price. Those interested in what Nixon says...

Mate it’s not even June, why are you panickingReally disappointed about McCallum. I think he is an excellent player with great potential.

Yep it’s so boring. Can’t be arsed with this dragging on hamer esq.Almost certainly leaked by his agent to flush out whether there is Premier league interest at that price.
I think we would want more than that anyway.
I don’t believe he would leave us for another championship club, unless it was Leeds following today’s match. Leeds is still a big attraction to a lot of players.
It’s so tiresome, only May!3 things have to happen for Sheafo to leave
1. Someone has to offer £15million or more with some hefty add ons Vik style
2. Said club has to be Premier league, not a Luton or Burnley
3. If Vik / Gus hasnt moved on late in the window to add to the kitty Doug may get an itch trigger finger

Great to have a winger who scored 19 goals. No one's mentioned the fact that we played nearly the whole of last season with only one Right Back. It was clear early on that Sakamoto wasn't a Wingback and the whole team looked better in a 4-2-3-1 than a 3-4-1-2. And so van Ewijk played nearly every game and was running on fumes the last 1/3 of the season. When injuries and fatigue took over, poor Latibeaudiere was having to play RB, CB and even CM when Sheaf was injured. The lack of squad depth was clear for all to see so decent cover for van Ewijk is a must.
Equally, Sakamoto was the only natural Winger in the squad. We got lucky that Wright looked better on the left than he did centrally so I am delighted that we have already brought in 2 more Wingers. So now Wright, Mason-Clark, Sakamoto and Raphael can all play on the wings. If Godden leaves we need to bring in another Striker and depending on the formation we play, a CAM to replace O'Hare.
Then its just strengthening the central areas in midfield and defence.
We need a senior squad of 24/25 players and then the best of our U23 players for further depth.
Current squad is:
GK - Collins, Wilson
CB - Thomas, Kitching, Latibeaudiere
RB - van Ewijk
LB - Bidwell, Dasilva
CM - Sheaf, Eccles, Torp, Allen
AM - Palmer
RW - Sakamoto, Raphael
LW - Wright, Mason-Clark
ST - Simms, Godden, Tavares
Add 2 CB, 1 RB, 1 CM and 1 AM/ST depending on formation plus the better U23 players like Burroughs and we should be good to go. Of course we would have to replace any players we may lose like Wilson/Bidwell/Godden etc.
