Often it doesn’t and the best managers get better than the sum of a team’s parts.
We also have a manager that can do that but that's not true, the teams with the best players more often than not end up at the top.

What's that supposed to mean? The team with the best players won the Prem again.

And the best manager.

Chelsea and Man United have two of the most expensive squads and should do far better.

Wasn’t there something a while ago that showed that wage bill was by far the biggest indicator of league position? Which kinda backs up Toms point.

Man Utd also have a lot of experienced players

Tbf we both want the club to do well I'm sure so no point in arguing... but it is our investments that are allowing us to move forward.

I have always supported the kid and always will ( apart from them (****in corners).😂
Cost us nothing and has improved every season.
As we have got better, so has he.
Adi rates him one of the best midfield players in the division, that’s good enough for me.

I completely get the love for him, it’s definitely warranted but I’m still adamant we can, and need, to do better. He’s improved every year for sure but he started at a pretty low level and is he going to improve again and again and again? For me the juries out, and I think using the European markets has been great for us so far, no reason we can’t add at least some depth or competition for Eccles’ spot.

Of course we do. I must admit I can't understand why you keep jumping on my posts and saying I am negative. I thought this was a place for discussion and I really have no problem with people disagreeing with me at all. It doesn't mean I am going to necessarily always agree with the majority on here. To be honest I find that boring and prefer people with opinions.

They only thing I don't like is people hating on our players and posting derogatory comments about them. I don’t think you do this by the way.

2 of your posts and they were both negative and tbh you had the whole forum on your case with one of your posts so its not a me thing. I think you just need to enjoy it more and remember where we've come from tbh mate. These are good days.
I'm not having a go at you, it would be way more obvious if I was.

Tom Merry, who Stamenic is pictured with in London, appears to be some sort of agent. Had posted about Dasilva on his story today as well.

Sorry, got incredibly bored watching England play and did some digging.

I don’t want to bore the rest of the forum by continuing this.

Wage bills have to be within the rules. It remains to be seen if this is the case . Although I'm pretty sure that judgements re the serial offenders will be manipulated in some way

Crickets. What a surprise.

Another arrogant poster that has next to no value where it matters.
I tend to agree on the points regarding Sheaf, as such; very good player, however he has those immense drops in form, gets injured a lot and really doesn’t seem to shine unless he wants to. Just my opinion.

Case in point: the two FA Cup games against PL opposition. Playing himself a move, perhaps? I dunno, I over analyse things. Same with COH, in essence, though, and the whispers of Sheaf moving on have been gathering momentum since mid point of last season.

I would rather him to move on, if it benefits the team’s trajectory and financial stability, and ability to reinvest.

Our European recruitment last summer was outstanding - I’d back this guy to be better than Browne in a few years.

Do get the point on experience though - have a feeling we’ll get an experienced centre back

Knowing that Robins likes to keep his deals quiet and close to his chest, if this one is a goer I’ll bet he’s furious with all the publicity

I think it’s working though, the club’s in the best state it’s been for decades and the punts from European leagues have worked so far. I’d rather risk it and go for Stamenic than Browne.
But if you break that down it just doesn’t make sense. Case for Browne. Proven, no risk, no fee, just wages. Case for Stamenic. Not proven, therefore a risk, 4m fee and wages.

Maybe we need one more than one midfielder ??

Kelly has gone
Howleys progress has slowed
Sheaf is rumoured to be a target
Maybe Allen wants a move to play more

Let's go back to the days where all our signings were free. That was a real hoot.

If we're changing to a flatter 3 we could definitely be after both.

I think it makes perfect sense? Literally said I’d rather go for the risk in Stamenic than go for the 29 year old Browne that’s going to offer little resale value in 3-4 years time.

Agree completely, Allen isn’t consistent enough, doesn’t regularly provide much going forward and is getting a bit past it. Eccles likewise isn’t the best going forward, Sheaf same again, it’s no wonder that we struggle to create chances week in week out when our midfield-attack transition is so poor.

Exactly, so many people on here seem to be over the moon with a 29 year old geezer from Preston and anything with slight risk involved is deemed “dangerous” and “lacking experience”.

Our European signings last season revolutionised our attack, Haji got better with each game, Van Ewijk, one of the best signings we’ve ever made, Sakamoto, turns defenders inside out for literal fun, Torp does a bit of everything and has a hell of a shot on him.
I genuinely don’t get this obsession with sticking to players in the championship and league 1, we need to be picking the cream of the crop from around Europe if we want to get out of the championship, forever scrapping with Preston, Milwall, Norwich for 8th place.

I think Browne would be decent fwiw but I do find some peoples attitude a bit strange, almost scared to move forward.

I think the point with somebody like Browne is that he's got that bit of experience and know-how in this league. We can be a bit naive at times and we've lost a significant amount of experience this year, two former captains so we do need somebody to help take on those roles.

Yeah completely agree Tom, farting around with Legue 1 players and frees from the championship led us to having a load of players on long contracts that we don’t really want anymore or at the very least weren’t as good as we hoped, I’m thinking Dasilva, Collins, Lati (maybe). Literally every European signing was above and beyond what we hoped, there’s so much talent out there in random leagues, I think some people just have blinkers on when it comes to signings.

We’ve got to grasp this opportunity whilst we can! The club energy is in a great place, almost every player wants to be here and ticket sales at an all time high, the relegated teams are the easiest they’ve probably ever been, it’s one of the few times I’m genuinely optimistic for our chances of getting out of the championship.
