Oh this information has changed my mind completely. I hope Ruben Dias fancies a move to the CBS. Maybe as a sweetener we can send Will King to his house 3 times a week to clean shave his entire body.

Well you have to be stupid to think that the world’s best defenders are not British but outside of that all non British defenders are rubbish …..

I'd think not recognising a tongue in cheek comment for what it is was more stupid, but who knows. The jury will decide.

My main concern with McNally (other than I think we should be aiming a little higher) is that he was fine in a back 3 where he had 2 other CB’s helping him out but in a back 2 I’m not sure if he’d be any better than Kitching or Thomas?

I don’t think he can fill Bidwell’s role at LB so really he’d just be a backup CB, or a sidewards move for Kitching at best. I just think our money is better spent on a proper upgrade for Kitching if we go down that route, rather than someone that’s of a similar-ish ability.
Depends on price and availability of other CBs. With Thomas and Kitching we have gone for players who are tough and can play a bit. Think McNally is similar. Burnley obviously rated him, as they wanted to keep him with another loan whilst they were happy to sell us Thomas. Burnley clearly thought McNally was a better player than Thomas at the start of last season. Remains to be seen if they still think that. Sure MR and AV will know if McNlly can prosper in a back 4. Got a feeling it is all academic, as I don't think we will buy him due to price. Better bargains abroad.

Yeah agree with all of that, and well summarised. McNally’s maybe slightly better than Kitching but I think we need more of a big upgrade in defence rather than a slight one.

So does the window open at midnight tonight or other? If its tonight, should we all be waiting up for hot news?

Agreed, Thomas was further down the Burnley pecking order than McNally last summer (coming off a season in L1 vs McNally in the champ) but the tables have definitely turned for those two based on how last season played out. Don’t think McNally would suit us now.

Lets not forget that Kompany had departed company (LOL) from Burnley and the things may be different

Most importantly, I just think we can do a lot better than McNally these days. We can find the likes of Van Ewijk and Sakamoto and Haji and attract them to the club, and if anything the club looks even more attractive than it did last year as we’ve got a stronger squad, nearly made play-offs again and we basically beat Man U in an FA cup semi-final.

I think we should be looking past the McFadz, McNairs, McNally’s of this world and try and find a bit of extra quality to really strengthen the team, rather than just patch holes up.

is Brekalo still available?

Turns out he’s got Celtic heritage and is actually McBrekalo so now he’s not interested.
We have had a lot of Mc’s tbf, and I’m not against the Celtic-ness but a lot of British CBs turn out to be quite slow. A little bit of pace to get back for when Thomas-Asante runs at us would be quite handy.

Tea & Busquets who was that Swedish player someone mentioned to you yesterday who you said was the best player in that league since Zlatan? I can’t find the comment and want to watch some YouTube videos on him to dream it will happen

I really hope Cov are looking at South Korean international Seung-Ho Paik at Birmingham City. He has 2 years left on contract. Can play a multitude of positions and doesn't stop running for the whole 90. He only joined them in January but already a fans favourite in Birmingham. Exempt from mandatory military service due to Asian Games gold medal.

Busanello. Another very good left back from that league is Samuel Dahl.

Panzo would scare the life out of me in a back 4 unless he was playing LB. Doesn't fit the system we play anymore even as a back up.

McNally I'd want at the right price. As mentioned before his end of season form was good in a back 4. Don't think it will happen though as I'd imagine Burnley will want too much.

It was Busanello I think, I was looking through potential signings from Sweden/Austria/Netherlands etc and he looked like a quality player at a decent price, only 25 as well I believe. I was just asking what T&B thought as he has a good handle on these sorts. Seems like it would be an insane signing, too exotic (good) for some on here though so probably won’t happen 😂

This has been explained several times before but in the event that Gyokeres is sold in a part exchange deal we still get money. Any players included are valued as part of the deal and we still get our percentage.
Again, not true. It’s been explained many times before but a part exchange deal means Cov may not get any money

We get the value of the players exchanged in such a deal so we won’t walk away with nothing.

Unfortunately, it isn’t that easy. The valuation of the players exchanged is set by the buying and selling club. It’s happened before with European clubs lowering the value of players in order to avoid pay on fees.
