Also the only one out of those mentioned above that I would want is Surridge, and I doubt he’d be an improvement on Simms so I’m guessing he’d be a sub most of the time?

I wouldn't want him, he'd be on massive wages, if the budget is tight we should spend that money elsewhere in the squad. Simms is nailed on starter now and Haji could easily come more central if we need him. We need to bring someone in who is going to provide cover and has a bit of potential
It's none of the above. I think it indicates that there may be a change in formation next season. As it's been ongoing, I'd like to think it would be one of the earlier bits of business. Window is open now so hopefully not a long wait to find out.

I agree, and when I said “want” I shouldn’t written “take” because I actually don’t really want Surridge, it’s just that he’s the best of that named bunch.
I don’t think people realise how golden this opportunity is for us, this season is our chance to properly shine and escape the championship, yet we’re still seeing names of League 1 players or championship cast-offs on here. It’s just not good enough quality, nowhere near the level we need to consistently beat the likes of Leeds, Norwich, Burnley, Luton, West Brom, Preston, Swansea etc.
