Bidwell is sacrosanct on here.

Just saying he should be upgraded means you think he's the worst player ever and that you're basically saying Blair Adams is better.

It's perfectly fine to say we can do better guys, chill.

Rather money got spent keeper Centre back and number 10 to be honest mate

I don’t disagree we could get better, but you focus on the weakest areas of the team; and to me these three positions are that.

I can see us going for someone a bit more dynamic and actually spending a good wad there.

Yes I think we all respect his efforts and he has been a good dependable player for us. But some of the comments suggesting he can't be improved on and he's better than van Ewijk are ridiculous.

If we want to improve left back is second only to goalkeeper in terms of priority.

And you are right about how he seems sacrosanct on here. It's weird. No one seems to mention how poor he was at Wembley and how he looked totally out of his depth. But no we wouldn't want a van Ewijk equivalent on the left, we'd rather have Bidwell apparently.

Is anyone actually saying we shouldn't go after a LB though?

I'd be well up for adding another quality player to fight it out with Bidwell.

I do get the fact that Dasilva is here to stay so maybe Bidwell will move on but I really don't think he was the issue last season

We literally have posters above saying he can't be improved on and that they wouldn't want a van Ewijk equivalent in place of Bidwell.

I always defended Bidwell when the majority opinion was that he was shit, I thought he was fine. Now that the opinion of many is that he's incredible, my opinion remains pretty much the same, he's fine. Not exciting but you know what you're getting.
I don't think Bidwell has changed too much, hence my opinion remaining largely unchanged, but it's weird how the pendulum swings with some players.

He's got cult like status because he's a steady no nonsense Eddie I think. Appeals to the "AVE IT" types I think

I like him but no issues with upgrading on him that's for damn sure.

Likewise I was always defending him against others at the start. He's a good player but now not at the same level as most of first eleven.

Even if that's right you can't always just get rid of players on four year contracts who you think aren't good enough.

Fair point missed that.

I guess the biggest factor is that Dasilva has 3 years to run. If we brought in a 3rd LB it's going to be pretty difficult to keep people happy.

I'm all for an upgrade where we can but if money is tight Bidwell did do well in the second half of the season and really put in some eye catching performances. Wolves was pretty good.

I think it’s mad not to consider an upgrade on Bidwell. He’s not exactly quick or tricky, yeah he’s strong and tenacious but going forward he doesn’t offer loads, he offers something and should stay with us, but we need better in our starting XI.

Il be honest I'm giving up on this one now. Was told it was done, as everyone had seen, literally everything was in place, fee agreed, terms agreed, player in the country, he had met MR and AV, Been to Ryton, even Crvena had removed him from club website etc


Absolutely stunned if he's decided to fuck all that off at the drop of a hat
