Sakamoto Injury (10 Viewers)

It is cowardly behaviour. Even if you find yourself in that position underneath a player. It is very easy to get hold of him and make sure he doesn’t fall heavily.
Easy to introduce a new law to accommodate the situation.

Saw this happened yesterday.
Game was stopped for 11 minutes as he was treated & then he was stretchered off & given oxygen. Spent the night in hospital but thankfully released with the all clear.

Again, no action taken by the referee, not even a free-kick. Regardless of intent there really needs to be a clampdown on this. It's not enough to just not attempt to injure someone, you really have a duty protect them in such a circumstance.

Horrible

Really need to stamp this shit out.

As someone who grew up watching pro wrestling, I’ve seen far more innocuous landings than that one lead to some horrific life changing neck and spinal injuries.

Anytime landing on your neck, you’re playing with fire.

Are we really paying him so little that he can't afford a running sleeve or belt to hold his phone and keys?

Sort it out Doug ffs.

To be fair, and I'm not knocking Sakamoto or saying he isn't dedicated, I think all the players are running and training at the moment. They have to be, can't turn up to pre season unfit!
Guess i'm old enough to remember stories of top pros turning up for preseason overweight and unfit after boozing all summer.
Fair point PVA, but there's just something about Sakamoto which is very endearing.

It's great to see the lad looking so well.

In the immediate aftermath of what looked like a horrendous injury I was really concerned that it might be life-changing and not just career-ending. I had visions - thankfully wide of the mark - that he might end up in a wheelchair.

I can't wait to see him back in a City shirt again. He's one of those players who not only provides real entertainment value but unlike the entertaining showboaters he adds real value to our performances and success.

My favourite player 👍

Every aspect of Sakamoto is positive. He has a great work ethic and willingness to learn as illustrated both on the pitch and off it ( he spent a significant amount of time learning English during his rehab from the injury). We certainly missed him plenty.

Absolutely love Sakamoto, one of the best player’s we’ve signed for a long while. Never has a chip on his shoulder, always dedicated to the task and can spin defenders around like no one else. Even with his injury he was in my top 3 players for last season. Hope he’s back with a bang, we’ve really missed him on that right wing.

That first turn on the wing where he left the defender standing on his own as he ran down the wing was absolutely wonderful

i hope he has made a full recovery, physically and psychologically. good player, well on the way to being a great playing.
he was being pushed off the ball early doors, but he's adjusted to the game over here well.

Tatsu was great in his first season for us. We missed him badly in the end and could have made a difference for our play off chances.

He’s going to be a much stronger player for the upcoming season. Had his first taste of championship football and adjusted quickly. Can’t wait to see him play again,

First time I've watched Tats live since that horrible fall from height. The few days after the injury were such an anxious time, so it's a proper delight to see him back looking in good nick, with a spring in his step and doing what he does best. Selling defenders three dummies in as many seconds, and playing those sublime weighted passes sending Milan to the byeline. One of the best players we've had in a very long time, but given how bleak things looked back in February, the pleasure of seeing him back in action transcends football tbh.

I was a bit worried after the Stoke game when he seemed to not commit fully to a couple of balls in the air challenges but yesterday he was awesome and never ducked out of anything. Hope he doesnt become a target this season with all the attention around mve and Saka’s partnership

Thought it was interesting in the first half when it looked like he was going to jump for a lumped up ball from defence, but instead sold the Oxford player behind him who was clearly planning on not jumping and just giving Sakamoto a shove in the back. Ball went right over both their heads and Rudoni (I think) was away.
