I thought his manager confirmed he was coming to us?

Saddle was saying he's been and been given the tour of the ground and had pictures taken and everything, and now there's not insignificant reports he's off to sign for Forest and then go on loan to Olympiacos for a season, alongside reports from credible reporters that actually no he has signed for us.

In short, we're not going to know until one of the clubs confirm the signing. Currently its a mess.

If the kid or the agent has chosen the Prem over us then lets all move on. Its said he will be loaned straight out to Olympiacos to see if he's up to scratch which indicates Forrest aren't sure of what they are getting or don't think he's ready. That alone must be disconcerting and would possibly ring alarm bells as he may end up getting moved on again at the end of next season. That could be the reason nothing is set in stone at the minute and conflicting reports. Whoever we sign I cant think of anything to iffy from the recruitment team in the last 2 years other than JDS hasn't stepped up as yet and the fact that he was a free means it wasn't a gamble. Trust the process, try not be impatient and lets get the right fit and not make mistakes if we are spending money. Whoever wears the shirt come the start of the season will improve us.

I think the opposite. Better find out now before he signs that he might not be 100% on board. MR has said that he wants players to buy into what we are doing, and not use the club as a stepping stone.

As fans we are so keen for transfers, we hang onto anything that is reported. There will obviously be other targets.
Hypothetically, if he failed a medical with us, the club would move to another option. This is no different. It’s nice to be proactive, but sometimes you must be reactive.

We only know what we’re told. For example, Simms might have been third choice due to circumstances behind the scenes. However, some might assume his was first choice and the club got their man. There is still plenty of time. The transfer windows over World cups and the Euros always start slow.

I really don’t understand those fans that say “if he needs to be persuaded, if he’s not sure, then move on” ….. The main way clubs like us can progress is by persuading players that might not naturally look at us to join.

It’s what Bolton did with Anelka, Okacha et al years ago, and Pompey did with Merson, Kanu etc to give 2 extreme examples from the past. More recently we have seen Brentford do it with Eriksen and Brighton do it with a whole host of players.

If you’re Brazilian, Dutch, a kiwi, an American etc et. You don’t grow up dreaming of playing for Coventry, in fact you may not even have heard of them. We need to sell our story, be persistent, make the players feel truly wanted ….. we don’t have the brand, history or money to be arrogant.
