Browne is a very good footballer at this level and brings leadership as well as a bit of a dirty side to him. Gives protection to our more technical players as the opposition know they'll get one back if they try kicking us off the pitch. He performs better further forward in the midfield but can play Sheafs type of role, if Sheaf is sold then we don't have to panic to bring in a replacement as we'll already have someone at a decent level that can do it. He should settle in fast as well and should hit the ground running, again, allows a long term Sheaf replacement to come in and get upto speed as opposed to being thrown in the deep end. Yes, there are better players but I think as a package, he's exactly what we need.

Fair enough, good point and very well put, can’t really argue with you there as I don’t know the player inside-out other than when we’ve played against him. My personal view is that I assume we can to do better for both the present and the future of the squad, as I doubt Browne will have much resale value in the future.

Isn’t he on a free ? Makes the resale value slightly less of an issue.

I think he is tbf, suppose it’s not that big of a deal then, I just still think we can do better. Also if we’re spending the time and money training someone then we might as well try and make something out of it by selling the player?
If Browne gets us to the prem then of course he’d be an excellent signing but I just have this nagging thought in my mind that we need something just that bit better.

A guy who has 350 games at this level and 60 goal involvements yet you dont think he is good enough. We don't have the money for the players you think we should be getting.

Stick to loan proposal, don’t push any harder.
That wold mean either two of Binks, Kitching or Thomas sitting on the bench or us using up a loan so an experienced pro can sit on our bench, which I doubt Worrall would be interested in.

But imagine we get 2 injuries or just want to rest a player. We then have the options to do that

If Vik signs with Arsenal I definitely reckon we’d have the money for an upgrade on Browne. I think the guy’s fine but if we want to get into the prem then we need more than fine, and if we can get someone that we can improve whilst Sheaf’s still here to do the main bulk of that role then I think it’s an ideal opportunity.
I think we just see it differently, and that’s fine, but that’s just my personal stance on it.

I just think you are being too unrealistic. The type of player you seem to demand is not in our price range. We may get lucky and find someone but most players we are after are also wanted by half the championship or above.

It can take some players from abroad half a season to properly settle though. At least Browne knows the league inside out

Stamenic was ours until Forest decided to pull an FFP scam

I know saddle personally and he’s not making stuff up. Seen it first hand. But his contact is not a fully first hand in and around the club (edit: around but not in actually. I thought we all had guessed who it is by now) in the know so things can and do change.

Basically. He’s not making stuff up.

Some of the finance stuff though are fed with an agenda and mostly are nonsense comments

Maybe but we very nearly signed Stamenic who’s obviously now at a prem team, I think that’s exactly the sort of player we should be after, doesn’t cost the earth, already plays at a good level but also has a lot of potential. These players are definitely out there, it’s just whether our scouts can find them and whether another team beats us to the punch or not.

A young development striker would round off business nicely for me in all honesty. Really dont think we are far away.

I'd then focus July on selling dead wood and see if there are any quality loans available.

We missed Stamenic but it showed we’re after a player in that position and are probably targeting something around the £5m mark. I think that player will still arrive but in a different guise. We’ll almost certainly add a keeper. We’re looking at RB cover. The intriguing one - where we’ve heard nothing is CF. Godden must be off. Wonder if Tavares has done enough to be considered his replacement.
Nope Tavares not good enough. We have to move on.

Callum Styles on for Hungary tonight, saw his name a lot on here last year. Are we over him now?

If we were in for Stamenic, then we should be looking for better than kyprianou.
Agree on others.
Then if a left back up grade came up we should proceed.

Correct, July 1st

Kasey and Joel tail end of the week of the 8th (if as expected Jamaica get knocked out early)

Haji pencilled in for midweek of the 15th
Reckon any movement tomorrow? Can imagine another busy week with alot of players back from holidays maybe

Thoughts on Lewis Dobbin on loan as our versatile rotational striker? More of a winger by trade, but recently moved to Villa (some shady ffp dodging) but I expect him to be loaned straight to a Championship club. Would obviously like better, but if it comes down to prioritizing funds for positions of need I'd have him on a cheeky loan.

How the frack can a club who got docked points for FFP continue to spend money?

It's an ffp scam

Nottingham Forest buy a Villa youngster for £4 million and Aston Villa will buy a Nottigham Forest youngster for £4 million.

Both clubs can counts the sale as £4 million 'profit' immediately but the £4 million they spent can be spread over the duration of the contract.

So on the accounting books it will count as £4 million revenue for each club but only £1 million spent (if a 4 year contract), leaving both clubs as +£3 million for ffp purposes

And they probably have buyback clauses built in to protect the selling club in the event the player actually turns out to be any good.
