Genuinely wouldn’t be surprised to see him sign a new contract.

Teams like Spain are so clear of us
They are but they have had some pretty big holes open up in their backline at times. Could see Germany taking chances against them.

England have been crap, no papering over how bad we have played. I do wonder if we would at least look better as a counter attacking team which we just haven't had opportunity to do against the teams we have faced. We look clueless against teams sitting deep.

Imagine how good we could be if we played like Spain.

Moving the ball quickly, plenty of attacking intent, creating so many chances. We've got the players to do it.

But no, let's just pass the ball around the back at walking pace.

Fucking depressing thinking about how good we could be.

What Spain did to Georgia when that 2nd goal went in is what we should’ve done in ET when we scored the early goal. Slovakia were there to be had, we had fresher legs and momentum, but instead we sat back and invited pressure.

Do we? I think a lot of our players are hugely over-rated and miles behind the continental sides on a technical level. Some of players first touch is horrendous and our passing is pretty shocking too, often behind the man or hit too slow.

Living rent free and all that...

If I were you, about now I'd be accusing you of being obsessed and stalking me around the forum... all using ChatGPT to come up with some Incel language to flesh it out a bit.

Fortunately I'm not, so I won't.

You put me on block, but still somehow sees everything that I post, and work overtime to like every single post from anybody who has a miniscule difference of opinion to my own? It is really weird behaviour so I don't think you have any right to take some moral highground around obsession.

You throw so much odd language around, but none of it means anything. How many times have you left the house since covid, is it once? Go and sort your own life out you sad and pathetic man. You have no right to lecture anybody on the real world.

Which of our players are overrated or technically poor?

Look at the seasons Bellingham, Foden, Kane, Palmer, Saka, Rice have just had. They're brilliant players being utterly stifled.

And particularly when compared to the opposition - clearly we've got more than enough about us to score more than 2 goals against Serbia, Slovenia and Slovakia. That's just pathetic.

Saka does seem to have gone backwards this tournament though, Gordon's only had, what, two minutes and ran at the defence more.

Agree on that and I’ve wanted Gordon to start since the start of the tournament. As mentioned previously I genuinely think the bike crash he had the other day probably limited his chances of getting minutes today. He’s got scuffs and scrapes everywhere.

Saka seems to like receiving the ball facing backwards to bring the defender tight with the hope of spinning him. However, whilst he isn’t absolutely rapid, he’s more than quick enough to be running onto through balls and helping to stretch the play, which is why I think he’s carrying an injury. Just not interested in doing that, it seems.

Kane great goalscorer but his powers are on the wane and he isn't really suited any to a fast paced, high tempo style style with lots of intricate passing.
Rice over rated, don't think he is technically on the same level as some of the opposition midfielders.

Foden, Saka, Bellingham are up there but this England team isn't getting the best out of them right now, partly maybe because of the tactics and manager but also because the midfield behind them isn't good enough and doesn't have the quality to get the ball into the attacking players quickly and in dangerous positions.
Because both full backs are poor and/or being played out of position and are not linking up and supporting the wide players.
The attacking players are having no link up with the striker as Kane can't sort his feet out and either loses the ball or takes two or three more touches than he should be.

Kane's powers on the wain? After the season he has had?

So is it just Guehi that misses the quarters?

I'd imagine Konsa comes in as a like for like swap.

With how disjointed we've looked I'd be half tempted to move to a 3 at the back with Saka at LWB & TAA at RWB.
I also think switching to a 3-4-3 looks inevitable atm. We actually look better playing that formation too.

Mainoo will have caused a headache.

If he (finally) did want to drop Bellingham back into the 8 role Mainoo would be the sacrifice and he was a silver lining today; fully committed, progressive on the ball and played without fear.

He HAS to play two wingers next game, the Foden/Trippier combo is such a hindrance. Foden on his own out there offers very little, unless he’s playing away from the position he’s supposed to occupy.

Rice has had a pretty poor tournament, but I wouldn’t drop him.
Bellingham Rice
Palmer Foden Gordon/Eze

God, these players get such an easy ride for putting in truly pathetic performances. The set up is horrendous but if these players were as good as people are making out you’d think they’d at least manage to look like semi-competent footballers. Watch these games and look at how many touches it takes our players to get the ball under control, how often the first touch is awful, how poor some of the passing is. It can’t all just be blamed on the manager and the system.

Agree 100% about Mainoo. Stand out player that showed bollocks when more experienced players were shrinking
